Angela of ALC Creates (@spicyredhead) made her Rocket Star Block using a variety of fabrics from her stash. She says, “Make sure to cut accurately 🙂 Also the instructions aren’t super clear about where to line up the ruler when trimming down the pieced wedge section. I have an older 6.5″ square ruler with diagonal lines at the 45 and 60 degree marks. They form a triangle in the corner which is perfect to use to line up the corner of the printed wedge. Then I used washi tape to mark the 5.5″ lines on my ruler so I could perfectly line it up.”
Anna of My Wandering Path (@mywanderingpath) made her Rocket Star Quilt using by Minick & Simpson. She says, “This pattern takes a patriotic twist when paired with the Northport collection’s (by Minick & Simpson) classic Americana color palette. I love how the starburst blocks remind me of fireworks! A grippy Creative Grids ruler and rotating cutting mat make quick work of trimming these blocks.”
Eleri of The Sew and Tell Project (@elerihandmade) Soulful by Maureen Cracknell. She says, “Starch is helpful. Also, I didn’t realize at first that the points on the rockets and the squares won’t match so I freaked out after my first block :-)”
Elizabeth of In the Boon Docks (@intheboondocks) made her Rocket Star Block using
Geraldine of Living Water Quilter (@livingwaterquilter) made her Rocket Star Block using
Martina of Quilt Collection M. (@malu27117) made her Rocket Star Quilt using Fragile by Zen Chic. She says, “I could not have the diamonds touch the rockets and had a problem with that in the beginning. But in the overall quilt that does not matter at all.”
Mathew of Mister Domestic (@misterdomestic) made his Rocket Star Block using his new Catch & Release. He says, “The foreground components of the block provided an awesome opportunity for dynamic fussy cutting. For the diamond sections, sometimes my sewing was a little off and it didn’t create the necessary 1/4″ seam allowance to maintain the sharp points. Instead, I would glue baste the points, regardless of the seam allowance on that section, to the other section’s 1/4” seam allowance. That made my points extra crispy. “
