Blogger's Choice: Melissa Corry - The Jolly Jabber Quilting Blog

Blogger’s Choice: Melissa Corry

Does quilting make you happy? It certainly does for Melissa Corry of Happy Quilting! She is here today to tell us about her Blogger’s Choice Bundle, filled with 12 vibrant prints and 3 solids. Have a look at her blogger approved bundle!

Q: What will you be making with your Blogger’s Choice Fat Quarter Bundle?
A: I have wanted to make a raw edge hexie quilt for some time and knew that this bundle was perfect for my idea. I started cutting and couldn’t stop. Before I knew it, the quilt was done. I took some pictures along the way and made up a little tutorial. I’m calling this quilt Shabby Hexie Twist.

Q: What quilt project are you currently working on?
A:The main project I am currently working on is a twin bedspread for daughter. She just turned 2 and is in a big girl bed now, my last baby growing up 🙂 I am using a soon to be released Fat Quarter Shop pattern and fantastic pinks and greens from Sweet Treats. And yes, there are lots and lots of HST’s in this quilt, trimming goodness galore 🙂

Hot Seat:
1. jelly roll or layer cake
2. planned or scrappy
3. prints or solids

Leave a comment on this post choosing one of each pair you think Melissa would have selected. Answer correctly and you will have a chance to win one of her Blogger’s Choice Fat Quarter Bundles. Contest closes Wednesday October 30th. Good luck!

  1. I love this bundle. It is on my list to buy come payday. I need it for my next guild quilt!!!

    Layer cake, planned, prints

  2. I am so in love with the colors in both quilt bundles. I woke up this morning, thinking "its been too long since I quilted, what can I make before christmas?" and realized I need a wedding gift and am behind in a quilt for my niece. And this bundle would be great for either, but I really like the cherry pink and green combo too, so I may have to go hunting for those combos soon.

My guesses are Jelly, Planned and Prints!!!

  3. I love these colors & prints for a little girl! Please don't make me guess in order to enter–I don't know. lol I would guess layer cakes, planned & prints after seeing the photos.

  4. we all know its layer cake – thanks to the hint, and I am guessing planned and print from her past and ongoing projects

  5. Layer cake, planned, prints!
I adore the purple, green and aqua together! My favorites! I would sure love to make one of Melissa's quilt alongs or the hexie quilt with this bundle.

  6. Layer cake cause its so versatile, scrappy cause you need a little bit of every thing, and prints cause its all in the details. Picking fabrics right now for my next quilt. it must be a shabby hexie! Cindy O

  7. Love this blogger's bundle! Melissa's pick would be layer cake, planned, and prints! Thanks for the opportunity to win sweet fabric!

  8. I just love her Blogger's choice bundle. I saw it earlier today and was already drooling over the fabrics and colors she chose.

    My guess is:
    layer cake
    scrappy
    prints

  9. Layer cakes, planned, and prints. Melissa likes to do what I call "planned scrappy" – I plan a colorway, but then I use lots of fabrics in those colors, not just one or two. And I don't know if Melissa uses scraps very often, but the first pieces I cut are all those from my scrap bag that fall in that planned colorway 🙂

  10. I will go with layer cake, planned and prints! Thanks for the chance.

  11. Melissa planned (2) with maths, and most often uses prints(3) to layer her cakes(1)!

Beautiful, vibrant fabrics, made into a stunning quilt.

  12. Layer cake (not limited to narrow strips)

planned (get the colors in the right spots for maximum effect – planning it right it could look scrappy)

prints (they soften up the look and some prints have a solid look about them)

  14. Layer cake, planned and prints – is what I am hoping that Melissa picked.
Thank you for the chance to win.

  15. layer cake, planned, prints

Melissa is a talented gal, I've been following her for some time (er, virtually, that is). This is a lovely bundle, but I am partial to purple!
