We’re shaking things up on the Jolly Jabber! We are bringing life back to our old projects with Blog Remixes! Every other Thursday from today until November 15, we will be throwing it back to one of our tutorials with new fabrics, notions, tips and tricks to inspire you to make your next project. Whether you’ve seen this project before or it’s your first time, there’s a remix project for everyone. This week’s remix is the Simple Zipper Bag we did with Sherri McConnell back in 2016! This project is a great way to use your Mini Charm Packs since you can make 2 Simple Zipper Bags with just one Mini Charm Pack!
Fabric Requirements
Here is what you’ll need to make this project:
- 1 Mini Charm Pack
- 1 Fat Quarter for Lining
- 1 Fat Quarter for Backing
- 1/4 Yard for binding
- 1 scrap for top strip
- 1 scrap for interlacing
- 24 inch Zipper
- Soft & Stable for interlacing

Sherri did a video tutorial on the Simple Zipper Bag with Kimberly when she came to visit us in 2016! Grab your materials and follow along with us as we make this fun and handy project:
Quilt Along
We even had some awesome quilty friends make their version of the Simple Zipper Bag:
Quilty Staffer Bev made her Simple Zipper Bag using Harmony by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics. She says “The front of the bag and the lining are sandwiched for quilting , no need to make a separate lining!”
Quilty Staffer Susan made her Simple Zipper Bag using Well Said by Sandy Gervais for Moda Fabrics. She decided to put a handle on the bag for ease in handling!
Quilty Staffer Nancy made her Simple Zipper Bag using Victoria by 3 Sisters for Moda Fabric.
Melanie of A Bit of Scrap Stuff (@mellierc) made her Simple Zipper Bag using Smitten by Bonnie & Camille for Moda Fabrics.
Angela of ALC Creates (@spicyredhead) made her Simple Zipper Bag using Best. Day. EVER! by April Rosenthal for Moda Fabric. She says “I made 2 zipper pouches. For the first one I used a mini charm pack that I’ve been holding on to for a special project. The second pouch front is made from EPP hexies that I hand stitched together and then cut to size. I absolutely love how it turned out and can’t wait to use it!”
Rebecca of One Wee Bird Quilts (@oneweebird) made two Simple Zipper Bags. She made her first one using Boathouse by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics and her second one using ______________.
Sherri of This and That Patterns (@sherfalls) made her Simple Zipper Bag using Miss Kate by Bonnie & Camille for Moda Fabrics. She made it one row smaller for pencils. Love it!
Tanya of Tanya Quilts in CO (@tanyaquiltsinco) made her Simple Zipper Bag using Smitten by Bonnie & Camille for Moda Fabrics. She used leftover Smitten pieces from Fat Eighth Fruitcake Project!

I love it. I hope the youtube video has a printable version of this tutorial
I want to make a few of these for loved ones
Love this video project! It’s my go-to gift for all occasions. I’ve probably made at least two dozen in different sizes. The Annie zipper makes all the difference!
