Go back to school with Pam Kitty and sew along with us! Over the next seven months Pam Kitty is getting a lesson in Civil War History, and we want you to join in on the fun!
We will be making 5 blocks each month for 7 months featuring Pam Kitty Love for Lakehouse Dry Goods and Barbara Brackman’s Civil War Sampler Book, beginning on December 15th 2012. Post along with us on the 15th of each month, showing off your blocks!

On the 15th of each month we will debut five blocks each from three people (Pam, Kimberly and Debbie). These will be 8″ finished quilt blocks that will end in a lap-sized sampler quilt. We would love for you to join in on Pam Kitty’s lesson in Civil War History! (Don’t worry, no grades involved!)
Class starts on December 15th so come back to see each of our blocks. Purchase your school supplies to sew along with and upload your photos to the Flickr group! Don’t be tardy!

I absolutely love the fat quarter bunders for the "Back to School with Pam Kitty". Is there anyway the bundles can be purchased a little at a time over the course of the 7 months. To buy all 6 bundles plus the book would be over $230.00…pretty pricey for a lap quilt. It's something I'm very interested in doing but with Christmas just around the corner find it is not fiscally possible.
Yes! Get the bundles you want! You definitely don't have to use every print, just pick the ones you wish to use. Everyone will have different blocks, just using Pam Kitty Love and the Civil War Sampler Book. Each month pick the blocks you wish to make and use the prints you wish to include. No rules, no grades!
I'm excited about the Back to School project. I order half of the bundles and the book today (I know the book is not available quite yet). I have never participated in anything like this. Is this actually an online class…live? Or, just doing our own thing and posting photos. I couldn't find a place to actually sign up for a "class". Just not sure of the procedures to follow. Thanks!

There is no official class, we are just posting our photos for all to see! The Civil War Sampler Book, is full of historical tidbits, so we will all be learning as we sew!

Hi, I have a couple questions. How many bundles will I HAVE to buy to make the lap quilt? Can i just purchase 2 bundles and it would give me enough to make the blocks? Thanks
Sounds like a really fun project! My question is similar to others — approximately how many fat quarters does one need to complete the lap quilt? I'd love to have all six fat quarter bundles, but do I really need all of them, or can I get by with less? Thanks for your help.

Since we are still working on this ourselves, it is difficult to know exactly how much fabric to purchase. For starters, a background and 3 bundles would be a good start! Because we are just sewing 5 blocks a month, if you are running low or wanting to add a new color to your stash, you can always order more as you go!
