Our 2025 quilt for Make-A-Wish isn’t just a wishing star— it’s a lasting wish come true! The Stardust Quilt and Cross Stitch are designed by Fat Quarter Shop and capture the magic of stardust that you can capture in stitches and bring into your home. We invite you to sew along and stitch along with us from May to June 2025, and we can’t wait to start these two special projects with you this spring!

Benefitting Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas

Our Stardust Quilt and Cross Stitch Patterns benefit Make-a-Wish Central & South Texas. As we fly closer to our 12th Annual Charity Quilt Along, we are excited for the life-changing impact this sewing community can make, and inspired by the stories of the children who have been granted life-changing Wishes.

We got a special opportunity to sit down with Sam Benesch, who shared his experience with Make-A-Wish and his ongoing involvement. If you missed this special livestream, you can watch it below!

A wish is an opportunity to set aside thoughts of doctor appointments and medical tests and focus on a positive, uplifting event. Excited anticipation fills long hours in hospital beds with visions of swimming beside dolphins, meeting princesses for tea, or shaking hands with a hero. Wishes are life-affirming and can equip children and their families with invaluable tools to aid them in their fight against illness…hope, strength, and joy, and the knowledge they are not fighting alone.

Fat Quarter Shop is happy to be partnering with Moda Fabrics to match up to $30,000 in donations for this worthy cause.

The fundraiser works by offering the Stardust Quilt and Cross Stitch Patterns as FREE downloads during the event for a suggested donation of $10 each to our Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas campaign. No amount is too small, and every bit counts.

Special Donor Gift!

The first 500 donors to donate an amount of $75 or more will receive a special limited edition Stardust Bear as a thank-you gift! This sweet bear comes with embroidered foot pads and a darling bowtie and will only be available to those who donate to the Stardust fundraiser this year. For each bear we send to a donor, we will also send one to a Make-A-Wish child, so it’s a gift that keeps giving!

Our $100,000 Goal!

We are constantly blown away by the generosity of our community of quilters and stitchers, and we know that you are just as excited to support this cause as we are. During the fundraiser, please give what you are able, every little bit counts toward granting a child’s wish!

As we mentioned above, together, Fat Quarter Shop and Moda Fabrics will match up to $30,000 of the donations raised! With your help, we will be sure to hit our $100,000 Goal!

About the Stardust Quilt Along

The Stardust Quilt Along is in two parts this year, and will run May – June 2025. The radiant celestial stars in this pattern will radiate joy throughout your home and remind you of the life-changing impact of a wish that is granted. Keep reading for more details about the Stardust Quilt Along, and stay tuned for the Stardust Kickoff Blog post this Spring to stay up to date!

Every year, we design a free pattern for you and put together an exclusive Quilt Kit and Backing Set so you can make a Stardust Quilt that is just like ours! The Stardust Quilt Kit and Backing Set are available only at Fat Quarter Shop, and quantities are limited— so make sure you reserve yours before we kick things off in May.

Our exclusive quilt kit includes everything you need for your quilt top, including fabric from the Summertime collection designed by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics and a pair of daisy scissors— all packaged in an exclusive canvas tote bag.

The Stardust quilt finishes at 54.5″ x 54.5″ and is suitable for all levels of quilters! Kimberly Jolly will share a video tutorial for each pattern release, so if you’re relatively new to quilting, this is a good project to try. We can’t wait to see what everyone makes!

Our exclusive Stardust Backing Set includes 3.625 yards of Summertime fabric and an exclusive binding holder! The backing for this quilt is a single cut of fabric, rather than being pieced, so finishing your Stardust Quilt will be a breeze.

About the Stardust Stitch Along

Each year, we have a blast stitching the coordinating cross stitch pattern for the charity quilt pattern, and the radiating stars and added texture in the Stardust Cross Stitch Pattern make it a must-stitch! With 9 colors of embroidery floss hand-picked to coordinate with the quilt, you will be sew excited to get stitching when we release the two parts of the Stardust Cross Stitch Pattern in May and June 2025.

Your stitches will radiate joy with this cross stitch design that matches the 2025 Stardust Charity Quilt. It has a stitch count of 61w x 61h and finishes as a 4 3/8″ square on 14 count Aida.
