Announcing the Quilty Barn Sew and Stitch Along!

Welcome to the barnyard… Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet Co is back with another charming quilt and stitch along, Quilty Barn! Sew along with us as we indulge in our inner farm girl and dream of a life full of hay, animals, and sunsets on the farm.

We’ll be raising the barn all month long, and you are invited! Whether you quilt or cross stitch, join us for this fun event.  First, decide what barn quilt you want to make from the Farm Girl Vintage book or Lori’s new Quilty Barn cross stitch pattern.  So saddle up and get ready to sew from October 1 through November 15!

About the Quilt

What we love about Lori’s barn quilts is that you can mix and match the Quilty Barn and Silo Barn Blocks in one of three different settings! Within the Farm Girl Vintage Book, you can create the Silo Barn Tablerunner, Silo Barn Quilt, or Quilty Barn Quilt. The possibilities are endless, and we’re excited to see what you sew up! For this sew along, we’ll be focusing on Lori’s Silo Barn Quilt.

This is the original Silo Barn Quilt that Kimberly will be sewing from Farm Girl Vintage

Kimberly will be sewing up the Silo Barn Quilt, and she’ll be using Lori’s newest collection, Stitch. Kimberly’s Silo Barn Fabric Kit is available if you want to make one like her. (The Backing Set will be available in mid-October.) The Red Sampler Bundle, Flea Market, and Lori’s Bee Basics would be udderly perfect for your Quilty Barn project, too. So pick up your Farm Girl Vintage book, download the fabric requirements, grab your favorite Lori Holt collection, and let’s get started!

You can find all of the supplies you’ll need for this quilt along on the Quilty Barn supply page.

Don’t forget to pick up your Farm Girl Vintage Book!

Farm Girl Vintage was inspired by a true farm girl, Lori herself! The seeds for the many quilts in her book grew from her childhood on the farm. Her book has instructions for 45 Farm Girl Blocks, and over 15 different quilt and project settings. This book gives you the ability to mix and match blocks as you please!

While we love all the blocks from her Farm Girl Vintage Book, feel free to pull 6” blocks from other Lori Holt books.

About the Cross Stitch

It’s time for some old-fashioned barn-raising fun! There is room for all your favorite motifs in the Quilty Barn Mix & Match Cross Stitch Pattern.

Quilty Barn Cross Stitch Pattern by Lori Holt.
This sample was custom framed by Craftcenter of Fine Stitchery in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Each barn in this pattern contains a 24 x 24 stitch space for a motif of your choosing such as the beautiful Weathervane star, the Rise and Shine Rooster, or the Friendly Goat, but feel free to switch them out with your favorite motifs from any of the Bee in my Bonnet Stitch Card Sets.  Try the Baby Chick, Daddy’s Tractor, the Dog, the Black Cat, or any of the animals from Stitch Card Set H!

To stitch these farm-fresh red barns or the silos, you’ll need a copy of the Quilty Barn Cross Stitch Pattern, Prim 25 Count Lugana Vintage Cross Stitch Cloth, and the Quilty Barn DMC Thread Pack! The Barn and Silo patterns in the Quilty Barn Cross Stitch Pattern are interchangeable and have the same stitch count!

The Individual Quilty Barn with the Friendly Goat motif

You can stitch individual barns and silos with this pattern as well. Our sample above was finished with Slatted Pine Wood Panel with Easel Back by Hobby Lobby (SKU# 1303692) painted with Picket Fence Farm Girl Chalky Chicks Paint and embellished with Cottage Large Vintage Trim by Lori Holt.

We gathered all of the supplies you’ll need for this stitch along on the Quilty Barn supply page.

  1. Love Lori’s quilty barn and I have made a few of them. They are too cute. On another note, I just received a couple of curated fat quarter bundles. I can’t afford to buy a whole collection of fat quarters which contains, say 42 FQs. It was so nice to be able to purchase a curated one that allows me to stay in my budget and still get some nice FQs. I hope you continue to offer this option. Thanks so much 🙂

  2. I want to do the quality barn cross stitch, is there a 14 count aida available in this size and what color? Thank you.
