Today we’re sew excited to announce we are bringing back Sewcialites with the Sewcialites 2 Quilt Along! We are celebrating our quilting community with a free block of the week for 24 weeks. We’ve joined forces with 24 highly talented designers to bring you all new unique sampler blocks and so many options!
How does Sewcialites work?
We’ll release one block every Friday, starting on Friday, October 21, 2022, with breaks for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Make a date with us each Friday for a new block pattern on our blog, and watch Kimberly’s block tutorial on our YouTube Livestream the same day. Each designer will post their block on that day, too!
Invite your friends to join as we make one block each week from October 21, 2022, to April 14, 2023, with two more weeks afterward dedicated to finishing and backing the quilt.
If you’d like to get automatic updates, you can subscribe to the blog by signing up in the Email Subscription box or by subscribing to our YouTube channel.
The wonderful thing about this quilt along is it’s never too late to start – join us at any time! The fabric requirements and all the block patterns will be posted on the Sewcialites Landing Page, so be sure to bookmark it for later reference.
Sewcialites 2 Quilt
This quilt is designed to look great in a variety of collections, so choose your favorite and get ready to sew along!
We also have a bonus finishing pattern, if you want to make all three block sizes then you’ll need Kimberly’s Finishing Pattern.
How hard is the Sewcialites 2 quilt?
The Sewcialites quilt is made up of 24 blocks designed by 24 designers. Each pattern is marked with the difficulty level, from Beginner to Experienced. They all have straight seams and use traditional piecing techniques.
This quilt has THREE size options (3”, 6”, and 9” finished blocks), so start by selecting what size quilt you want to make.
What do I need?
Get started with the Sewcialites 2 Information Packet, which includes the fabric requirements, a coloring sheet, the complete block schedule, and a list of optional foundation paper supplies. The fabric requirements are listed for each quilt size, but you can certainly start with your stash. All the quilt sizes are precut-friendly! We recommend starting with a Layer Cake for the 3″ blocks, and using a Fat Quarter Bundle for the 6″ and 9″ blocks.
Tune into Fat Quarter Shop’s YouTube Channel this Friday, September 30 at 9 AM CDT for a preview of the blocks!
Optional Foundation Papers
You can use Triangles on a Roll Paper, Square in a Square Quilt Block Foundation Paper, and Flying Geese Quilt Block Foundation Paper for different blocks throughout the sew along. All the specific details are in the information packet.
