Our Heartfelt Quilt and Cross Stitch Chart benefit Make-a-Wish Central & South Texas.

We are amazed by the generosity of this sewing community and inspired by the stories of the children who have been granted life-changing Wishes. Kids like Anais and Keysean have been granted Wishes that buoy their spirits and create lasting memories. The way the fundraiser works is that we offer the Heartfelt patterns as FREE downloads during the event for a suggested donation of $20 for the whole cross stitch pattern to our Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas campaign. No amount is too small and every bit counts. From February to August, we will publish a new pattern on the Heartfelt Announcement blog on the first Friday of each month.

Heartfelt Cross Stitch Spotlight

We have a great lineup of stitchers stitching along with us (like you if you’re reading this)! We asked this month’s stitchers some questions, and they gave us some very heartfelt answers!

Nicola

Nicola of Bumble Stitches is a self-proclaimed newly-obsessed cross stitcher and quilter. She also has a FlossTube channel and sometimes knits! For her Heartfelt cross stitch, Nicola is stitching with the Heartfelt Aurifloss on Fiber on a Whim 32 count Linen in Stone and her progress is below.

We asked her, What cross stitch piece of yours has been the most “heartfelt” project that is closest to your heart? Why?

Nicola shared, “This year has been particularly ‘Heartfelt’ for me especially as I recently got married to the love of my life Justin and my daughter is expecting a baby in August, our first Grandchild! I think the most Heartfelt cross stitch project I have stitched is the ‘Feels Like Home’ piece that was a mystery SAL with Fat Quarter Shop back in 2020. I remember just getting back into cross stitching after many years and falling in love with it all over again, the rhythm of the needle was calming and reassuring during the early days of the Pandemic when staying at home was so important for all of us. Every time I see my fully finished piece which I made into this pillow, I am reminded of troubling times for so many all around the World and how much this hobby we love means to us.”

Melanie Call

Melanie Call of A Bit of Scrap Stuff is a quilter, stitcher, and all-around crafter. She loves her family, friends, and creating projects that reflect who she is. For her Heartfelt cross stitch, Melanie is stitching with Classic Colorworks and shared her progress and some notions below.

We asked Melanie, What cross stitch piece of yours has been the most “heartfelt” project that is closest to your heart? Why?

Melanie shared, “My most heartfelt piece is the Serendipity Cross Stitch from last year’s Charity Stitch Along. I love being able to stitch along with FQS and that this pattern benefits Make A Wish! This is the first large cross stitch piece that I fully finished! Usually, I’m a small project stitcher finisher …we won’t talk about how many large WIPs I have. For the Serendipity Piece, I did change my DMC floss colors as I wanted my Serendipity Cross Stitch and Quilt to match! I love matchy-matchy!”
