We’re back for the final post in the Serendipity Quilt and Stitch Along! This week, we’re celebrating our amazing success this year – all thanks to you! Our Serendipity Quilt and Cross Stitch Chart benefit Make-a-Wish Central & South Texas.
Wishes give hope and strength to children will critical illnesses and their families. In the past few years, many children in Central Texas have received wishes thanks to the generosity of our quilting and cross stitch community.
Each $10,000 raised grants a Wish to a child with a life-threatening illness. So far this year, four children have had their wishes granted with the money that you have helped us raise! Keep reading to learn more about these three special kids and how you can donate to uplift other Make-A-Wish children.
Serendipity Quilt Auction
We are amazed by the success of the quilt auction on July 5 which raised $7,689! Pat Sloan and Corey Yoder generously donated their quilts for auction, and 100% of those proceeds were added to the donation!
Funds Raised for Charity
During the Serendipity Charity Quilt Along and Stitch Along we gave each monthly block pattern away for free while asking for a suggested donation of $5 per quilt pattern or $15 for whole cross stitch pattern. We also released four additional bonus settings as fundraising goals were met. Altogether, the generous quilting and cross stitch community donated $90,037. That topped our original fundraising goal by almost double!
Moda Fabrics and Fat Quarter Shop together donated $30,000 for a total of $120,037 for Make-a-Wish Central & South Texas in their work granting wishes to children with critical illnesses. We anticipate granting wishes to 10 or more children. Thank you, everyone!!
Our Make-a-Wish Kiddos
Although the pandemic presented challenges for granting Wishes, four deserving kids, Charlotte, Keysean, Anais and Eilidh, had their Wishes granted this year. All thanks to you!
Charlotte has Leukemia, and received a special day fit for a princess, including a visit to the Build-A-Bear Workshop!
Keysean has a rare blood condition, and a special day was planned just for him, full of special surprises and memories.
When Anais was diagnosed with cancer, she missed out celebrating her Quinceaños and Sweet 16 due to her cancer treatment and the COVID pandemic. So, Make-a-Wish helped her celebrate her past milestones with a shopping spree!
Eilidh was born without a pituitary gland and has epilepsy. Her Wish was for a camper, and she is so excited that she drew a countdown chart to her wish-granting!

I love everything about this! I didn’t do the sew along this year, but next year I am totally in! My first was Bloomtopia and I had a blast and I think all the work that FQS does with MAW is so amazing and inspiring. Thrilled you guys raised so much and can grant so many wishes!
