We’re taking it back to the 1930s with It’s Sew Emma’s newest book, Aunt Grace Basket of Scraps Block of Month Book! It’s no secret that we all love Judie Rothermel’s Aunt Grace fabric lines for Marcus Fabrics as an authentic window to the 1930s.
It’s Sew Emma was honored to work with Marcus to create a beautiful block-of-the-month quilt using the Aunt Grace Baskets of Scraps collection, which is published in this book of classic blocks that have stood the test of time! We have added our own twist, capturing the rich look of English paper piecing and simplifying it into easy applique. The applique becomes even easier with the help of the Aunt Grace Baskets of Scraps template set.
We have also curated this set of luscious Aurifil 50wt thread, called the Aunt Grace Baskets of Scraps Thread Box, that is a picture-perfect match to the fabric to use for the piecing, applique and binding.
In the words of Judie Rothermel, “create something old from something new” with the Aunt Grace Basket of Scraps Block of the Month Book and Aunt Grace Basket of Scraps Block of the Month program. Tie all of it together with the Aunt Grace Basket of Scraps Block of the Month Backing Set.
Here are some of the classic blocks in the quilt, including ones that mimic the look of English paper piecing (without all the extra work) that you will be making with this book:
We will be starting the block of the month in February 2018 and it will run until October 2018. Be sure to get your Aunt Grace Basket of Scraps book, sign up for the block of the month program, and get the backing set and join in on the 1930s quilty fun!
