In 2003, I started Fat Quarter Shop, and 18 years later it has grown into something greater than I could ever imagine.

Driven by my own needs as a quilter, I began my shop as a side business, cutting, packing, and shipping Fat Quarter Bundles right out of my house on evenings and weekends. From the very beginning, I’ve been committed to delivering top-notch service for every single order and customer. As Fat Quarter Shop grew, I decided to make it a full-time operation. My husband Kevin joined me, and with his help, lots of hard work, and a tireless commitment, the store began to grow.

Over the years, one thing has never changed for Fat Quarter Shop. We will always be driven by the passion to give you the best products and service! I, together with the FQS family, want to make creating and quilting accessible and easy for all who pursue it.

Each and every year we are reminded at Fat Quarter Shop of how thankful we are to be a part of your lives. Thank you for including us in your daily sewing and crafting adventures! I am sew excited to continue this amazing journey with you in the many years to come.

Fat Quarter Shop is turning 18 this year, so let’s get this party started! And of course… it’s not a real Fat Quarter Shop celebration without a free quilt pattern.

We can’t wait to see you blow out the candles on this quilt! The 18 Candles Quilt design is inspired by shimmering sparklers and birthday candles. We also designed a coordinating 18 Candles Quilt Kit and a Pieced Backing Set for this special occasion!

The 18 Candles Quilt Kit includes the FREE 18 Candles Quilt Pattern and One Fine Day from Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics. 18 Candles is a Queen sized quilt, finishing at 76″ x 76″ with the quilt top and binding.

One Fine Day is a beautiful floral-themed fabric collection that pops with the happy colors of spring and summer!

The 18 Candles Pieced Backing Set has a striking center design with five birthday stars shining bright. To make it with your own fabrics, pick up a copy of the FREE 18 Candles Pieced Backing Pattern.

  16. I try to also support local shops, but they don’t carry the fabrics I love.My taste in fabrics also change as you introduce new designers which I try at your suggestion. Jolly Bars are a great way to try new types of fabrics without spending a fortune. Especially in the last 2 years when stores were closed and quilting groups no longer met, you became our best quilting friend. When you gave an honest assessment of a new tool, I knew I could trust you and promptly ordered. You have opened up a quilting world we didn’t know. My life is planned around Friday morning(and glad to be able to watch later if necessary). Your instructions are so helpful. I love that you end most saying this is the way I do it. I am sitting beneath a Christmas quilt I made from a BOM from FQS many years ago. In closing, your service department is the best.

  50. Congratulations to FQS! So glad I “found” you during the pandemic! My favorite birthday was my 50th. Our 2 girls had a surprise party for me with a flamingo theme and invited lots of relatives. I figured it out before the party but then had to play dumb until the day of the party. It was great that they did it and had a great time!
