Wishes Quilt Along: Double Windmill Block

Welcome back to the Wishes Quilt Along! This program benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation and we are so thankful for all of your donations thus far! We have raised almost 15% of our goal and hope to keep that number climbing. Join in this quilt along and help us make a difference! Today we are excited to introduce the second block in the program, Double Windmill!

Are you ready to get started? Start by downloading the FREE Double Windmill PDF Pattern.

Once you have the pattern downloaded and your fabric cut, get better acquainted with Double Windmill by watching the video tutorial. Kimberly shows you how to put this block together with detailed step-by-step instructions. From how to cut to where to pin, Kimberly shares all of her tips and tricks for piecing the block.

After piecing this block, please head to our Wishes Quilt Along Make-A-Wish Donation Page to contribute to our cause. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which will be matched by Moda Fabrics and Fat Quarter Shop for a grand total of $20,000. Every dollar helps, so please contribute whatever you can! We encourage you to donate after downloading each free pattern.

If you want to make a quilt just like ours, we have kits & backing sets available using the Wishes collection by Sweetwater. Or use your favorite prints from your stash for a scrappy heirloom quilt. Just download the Fabric Requirement PDF and start choosing! Whatever you choose, we hope you cherish the Wishes quilt for years to come.

Thank you for sewing the Double Windmill block with us. Post your photos and see what everyone else is sewing on the Wishes Quilt Along Flickr Group and stop by next month for the debut of the Annie’s Choice Block!

  1. Can't wait to get this block made! I missed the backing kits so I want to go ahead and just get yardage for the backing. The pattern gives the yardage but says to wait for instructions. Will I need the 4 1/4 additional yards for the backing?
