Vintage Memories BOM by Sherri Falls of This & That

When we saw this gorgeous quilt hanging in the This & That booth at Market this year, we knew it was The One. Er, A One :). A Block of the Month that we could instantly fall in love with. And after all, Sherri Falls used MARTINIQUE (sigh). (3 Sisters happens to be a forever favorite in these FQS parts.) What could we say, except “hubba hubba” and to sign us up please!
We’ve begun planning for this lovely, and Sherri gave us a little piece on her vision for it. Our program begins in April 2010 and runs through December 2010, a 9-month program. In those 9 months, we’ll complete 19 patchwork blocks set on point, and the quilt finishes at a sizeable 77″ x 97″. There will also be a backing set available. Click for more details and reserve your place soon for this beauty called Vintage Memories…it’s so gorgeous, we know we’ll be getting calls after all our spots are filled!

When I started to design Vintage Memories, I knew I wanted to use traditional blocks set on point, to give the quilt an old-fashioned look. I love traditional blocks best, and I wanted to create something that would be well-loved by all! I was still waiting for images of the new lines of fabric from Moda when I started to design the quilt.

When I got the images from Lissa at Moda, I knew that the Martinique fabric by 3 Sisters would make the quilt look fresh because of the color choices they used, but would also give it the old-fashioned look that I was looking to infuse in the quilt. I loved how the fabric line had 3 primarily neutral colors (coral, taupe/brown and cream), with a bit of the aqua blue and a touch of the pink and red as accents really making the quilt pop!

It really is the perfect quilt for celebrating spring, that point where cold, misty mornings give way to buds and blooms! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did designing it!
