Two, Four, Six Eight: Fat Quarter Quilts You’ll Appreciate

Are you a Fat Quarter collector? Do you pick up a few here, a few there, or a whole bundle… “just in case”?  We can relate. After all, we are the Fat Quarter Shop! And today we’re pleased to present to you, one of the latest books from Martingale that is all about sewing with fat quarters.

Two, Four, Six, Eight: Fat Quarter Quilts You’ll Appreciate is a Moda All-Star book compiled by Lissa Alexander for Martingale. The book honors traditional and modern quilts alike proving that you can sew up just about anything your heart desires with a bundle of fat quarters.

Two, Four, Six, Eight: Fat Quarter Quilts You’ll Appreciate

The book features 12 fat quarter fabulous quilts designed by the stars of Moda! Lissa collected designs from the likes of Corey Yoder, Sherri McConnell, Lisa Bongean and more. This book of patterns is definitely an essential for any quilter!  As an added bonus, all royalties from the book will go to the Special Olympics to make a difference in the lives of intellectually challenged people.

Today we’re bringing you a preview of some of our favorites.

First Down

Score this throw quilt using six fat quarters in your team’s colors. This winning quilt was designed by Vanessa Goertzen of Lella Boutique. Those triangles point toward a First Down and will keep you warm in the stands all season long.

To recreate this look, we recommend Bloomington by Lella Boutique or a collection featuring your favorite team’s colors.

Armchair QB

This gorgeous quilt is the star of halftime! QB actually stands for Quilt Beauty rather than Quarter Back according to its designer Brenda Riddle of Brenda Riddle Designs. The quilt finishes at 74″ x 74″ and uses 16 fat quarters of prints and 16 solids.

To recreate this sweet look, we recommend sewing with Moda’s Dusty Sunrise Bundle.

Game, Set, Match

Lynne Hagmeier of Kansas Troubles designed this 30.5″ x 30.5″ masterpiece using the easy stitch-and-flip method. The quilt uses four fat quarters, and as a bonus, it leaves very little waste!

This quilt would look great is some traditional reproduction fabrics. We recommend the 1800’s Bella Solids for Moda Fabrics.

Individual Medley

One simple motif, the half-square triangle, creates an entire quilt with a cool and energetic look. This quilt is reminiscent of swim meets and is full of freestyle splashes of color! The design is by Brigette Heitland of Zen Chic and it uses a total of 10 fat quarters.

This quilt would look perfect in Rasperry Spotted by Zen Chic! We think you could even throw some bright prints into this quilt for a more unique look of your own!
