Hello everyone! We have some exciting news to share with you today! Fat Quarter Shop, Angie of Gnome Angel and Marti Michell will be hosting the Farmer’s Wife 1930’s Sampler Quilt Sew Along!

What are you sewing?
We are sewing all of the 99 Sampler blocks from The Farmer’s Wife 1930’s Sampler Quilt Book by Laurie Aarond Hird. 

The Farmer’s Wife 1930’s Sampler Quilt: Inspiring Letters from Farm Women of the Great Depression and 99 Quilt Blocks That Honor Them by Laurie Aarond Hird for Fons & Porter/F+W


What do you need?
You will need a copy of The Farmer’s Wife 1930’s Sampler Quilt Book by Laurie Aarond Hird on hand. We’ve also teamed up with Angie to create an exclusive 1930’s Farmer’s Wife Fat Quarter Bundle with all of our favorite 1930’s inspired prints (be sure to sign up to be notified when the bundle arrives in early September). 

Marti Michell will graciously be providing us with Conversion Charts for various blocks in the book, and her Perfect Patchwork templates will be available at our shop soon. 

When is it?

  1. I bought the book a few years ago just have not gotten around to doing this quilt.

    I am excited. But what do you mean by "grab a button" I am assuming it is reference to adding something to my blog to link to this particular blog post.

  2. This is exciting. I have a stack of various 30's prints ready to go. Now I need to check my solid stash to see if it needs some 30's kind of updating. 🙂

  3. I have 'The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt" book that is "Letters from 1920s farm wives" Will this book work for this quilt along?

  4. I have a bunch of blocks given to me when I was going through illness and chemo and too ill to participate in a swap with online friends. This will be a fun way to, perhaps, fill in the blocks I do not have. Thanks!
