Are there certain quilts you dream of making? Maybe you’re putting aside fabrics for a special quilt, assembling the right colors and prints for your someday creation. Or maybe you’re building your skills until you feel confident you can tackle that quilt with confidence. Making the quilts you’ve always wanted to make is the concept behind Sunday Best Quilts by Sherri L. McConnell and Corey Yoder. It’s about making those someday, maybe quilts – today!
Sunday Best Quilts: 12 Must-Make Quilts You’ll Love Forever
Moda designers Sherri McConnell and Corey Yoder set out to design and sew the quilts they’ve always wanted to make. They sew and share their patterns for these classic quilt themes – Favorite Star, Pineapple, Red and White, Courthouse Steps, Christmas, and Scrappy. Along the way, the authors give you insight into their design process, with design notes, stories and inspiration highlighted throughout.
Favorite Star Quilt
When it comes to star blocks, there are so many options. Corey Yoder’s stars sparkle with Ombre Confetti Metallic by V & Co for Moda Fabrics in her quilt, Starling.
Sherri’s quilt, On a Whim, lets stars shine on several levels, and the blocks create a fun secondary design.
Courthouse Steps Quilt
Pairing prints from Minick & Simpson with this log cabin block variation creates an instant classic. Nantucket is Sherri’s Courthouse Steps design.
In Rainwashed, Corey changes up the block layout, playing off of the bright prints and crisp whites.
Pineapple Quilt
A Pineapple quilt is on many a quilting bucket list. The challenge of all those pieces and the stunning results are both daunting and appealing. Sherri’s version uses foundation paper piecing and tropical colors and it’s a show stopper!
In Dayflower, Corey simplifies the Pineapple block, doing away with foundation paper piecing for a clever, Jelly Roll-friendly block.
