Spring Quilt Market 2019: Schoolhouse Thursday

What a whirlwind of a first day in Kansas City!  We were so excited, especially as two of our FQS staffers were attending for the very first time.  The first day is Schoolhouse, where the day is jam-packed with 15- and 30-minute sessions presented by designers showcasing what’s new for this season.  We are loving the new fabrics that will be making their way onto our site and into the awesome creations you will be making next year! Here is just a flash of what we saw yesterday:

Speaking of make-able, Stacy Iest Hsu showed us inspiring sewing projects that we can’t wait to make for myself – I mean our kids.

Me and My Sister are perennial favorites – we always love their color and seasonal hits!

Jelly Roll Day 2019
Carrie Nelson from Moda Fabrics has us scrambling to Jelly Roll (yes, I use it as a verb) for Jelly Roll Day 2019.  Fact – doctors recommend Jelly Rolling once to twice daily.

Edyta Sitar
Of course Edyta Sitar blew us away with all of her sensational quilts and now pillows! She is holding a pillow sample from her upcoming book Pillow Talk with It’s Sew Emma!  Reserve your copy now, because these pillows are a-maz-ing!

Laundry Basket Quilts does it again, making all of these earth-shattering quilts, and somehow still showing up to Schoolhouse dressed up with all her hair in place, and un-pulled no less.

Alison Glass
We have been gawking online at the Trinket quilt #trinketsal by Alison Glass for decades – no, centuries. It was such an experience to see it live in person! We are loving the dark background that makes her colors pop.

More quilts we want to love forever by Alison Glass, featuring her Kaleidoscope woven collection from Andover Fabrics.

Jill Finley and Cindy Cloward
Dont “bee” jealous, Jill Finley’s fabrics for Penny Rose Fabrics are simply sweet as honey!  We love how she so masterfully combines graceful applique and striking piecing.

Jill, assisted by the one and only Cindy Cloward, showed a bevy of quilts in Honey Run and her upcoming line It’s the Berries!

Tula Pink
Then there is the indomitable Tula Pink! Her next fabric line Monkey Wrench comes out this September, and we are all about this crazy beautiful Tula Sunrise Quilt!

Those colors, those designs, that WIDE BACKING!  And what a sweet gift for a good friend sandwiched in there!

Elizabeth Hartman
Elizabeth Hartman is taking us on an Adventure through the savanna with Robert Kaufman, and we are ready for it!

We’ll be joined by all of her wild friends, like Lana Lemur!

Violet Craft
Violet Craft’s unicorn was the star of the show, hands down. He was born of magic and Violet Craft’s Modern Classics for Robert Kaufman!

We were wiped from Schoolhouse at Spring Quilt Market 2019! But of course there was more.  After completing the full day of Schoolhouse, we went to Sample Spree where we trucked along and witnessed the chaos of quilter’s on a shopping spree!  See it pre- and post-madness!

  1. I’m guessing the green one is Elizabeth Hartmans. Cant even stagger a guess at whom the others might belong to!

  2. Okay so I totally messed up the answer good thing it doesn’t count. I thought you were asking about your own crew of people that are at Quitl market. I love seeing all the beautiful and bright quilts from the designers. Thank you so much for always sharing pictures.

  3. I think the green floral belongs to Elizabeth Hartman and the pink one belongs to Kimberly Jolly, the daisy one belongs to one of the me and my sister girls…the black phone might belong to Jill Finley and the silver one belongs to Edyta Sitar 😉

  4. I think K. Jolley’s phone is pink, white daisies are Me and My Sister, black is Urban Chics, floral is Tula, silver is Laundry Basket quilts. Lol

  5. They all belong to Kimberly, she is so crazy busy. She misplaces phones so she always has one to call the others to find them.

  6. Pink: Kimberly, black: Kevin, green floral: Lily, daisies: Kate, gray: Denise

  7. I have no clue who’s phone is who’s but I would still love to win.

  8. The pink has to be Kimberly don’t have a clue to the rest. I couldn’t get the google form to work – told me it was closed. So hope this works instead.
