Spring Quilt Market 2011- Day 1 - The Jolly Jabber Quilting Blog

Spring Quilt Market 2011- Day 1

Here in Salt Lake City, Utah we have the mountain tops sprinkled with snow …

… surrounding lots and lots … and lots of gorgeous and adorable brand new fabric lines. Today we saw a few new lines – okay maybe more than a few … and now it is time to share some of this cuteness!
[Click on the each photo to view related material]

Debbie, Camille & Kimberly in front of Ruby

Aneela Hoey teaching Make It & Take It on embroidery – she really is just a doll!

It might look like they are playing hopscotch, but I was actually timing them to see how long they could stand on one foot. That is their Hopscotch pattern made with Amelia!

Christina (mother/designer) & Kate (daughter/sidekick) of Moda’s newest designer Cabbages & Roses – Northcote Range has a really fresh & clean feel, yet very classic at the same time.

Eric & Julie (husband & wife team) of Cosmo Cricket

And then there is that girl, Mrs. Joanna of Fig Tree Quilts – Butterscotch & Rose is just like it sounds, the rose really makes her collection pop from previous lines – of course it is still very elegant though!
Did you catch her bustin’ a move on our Twitter at the Moda party? 😉

The Moda Crew

We just got in Jingle All the Way fabric, and her book should be arriving soon! Here is their cute booth, looking a lot like the book cover.

We all know and love her blog & patterns – Allison Harris of Cluck. Cluck. Sew

Anna Griffin & Kimberly

New Michael Miller Designer – Sarah Jane

Patty Young’s Booth – and Happy Birthday to her!

Going Coastal Collection by Emily Herrick of Crazy Old Ladies for Michael Miller – this is her first ever fabric collection.

Kona Cotton Solids – I’ll take some please!

Joel Dewberry’s Heirloom collection

One last thing. Another giveaway! Today we have an Etchings Fat Quarter Bundle by 3 Sisters. It looks as though 3 Sisters went in a unique route on some of the prints with some architectural drawings mixed in – very classic look!

To enter for the chance to win this bundle, comment on this post telling me your favorite line we showed you today. You have ’til Saturday, May 14th at 10pm MST to enter. Good luck!

  3. I like new Fig Tree… and Art to Heart Jingle All the Way is also lovely.

  4. My favorite line definately is Joanna's! I love all the Fig Tree fabrics and I use them in many of my quilts.

  5. Love Sarah Jane (might have something to do with my daughter being called the same) but the fabrics designs remind me of when time was easy and kids simply were left to be kids and have fun – ps the kona solids look wicked like that……

  6. Thank you so much for giving us all the chance to see these beautiful new collections… To think of all the heart, dedication and hours that have been put in to create such wonderful fabric designs. How lucky are we to be able to use others' beautiful creations to create something stitched for ourselves.
As for a favourite… I'm a Figtree fan through and through!!!

  7. Wow they all look fantastic but my favorite would be Going Coastal Collection by Emily Herrick looking forward to seeing this range. The booths look amazing and colorful.

  8. My favourite would be Joel Dewberry's Heirloom range. A gorgeous colour palette and fantastic patterns. What could I do with this?

  9. The Cosmo Cricket booth looks fab! I'm loving the look of Joel Dewberry's Heirloom too.
Thanks for the giveaway and for all your tweets from Quilt Market – such fun!
Oh, I'd love to see more from Aneela's new line 🙂

  10. It is really very difficult to choose a favorite. But, I love Amelia. Thanks.

  11. Thanks for all the photos! Such fun to pretend I am there 🙂 I love the new Fig Tree, and Joel Dewberry's line. But they're all great! Hard to choose.

  12. I'd really love to see more of the Butterscotch & Rose. There's a quilt behind her that looks beautiful. I'm also interested in the Etchings. I've seen the name a few places, but this is the first time I've caught even a glimpse of the fabric.

  13. Thanks for today's post! Made me feel a bit like I was at Market. I kept reaching to fondle the fabric. The Kona Solids as ice cream was super. I love both the fabric and ice cream. Excited to see a bit of the new 3 Sisters line. Have a wonderful Saturday at Market!

  14. Thank you for sharing your Quilt Market photos with us. I would love to be there!
I think my favorite new line of fabric is Fig Tree Quilt's Butterscotch and Rose.

  15. Ok, this is a really hard choice. I have been stalking Sarah Jane on Etsy for a while so I am so excited she now has fabric, too. However, I am a die hard 3 sisters addict. I always swoon over their newest lines.

  16. It's a tough choice for me between the Kona cottons, which are my fave of late and Ruby, which I am itching to get my hands on…oh and Aneela Hoey's new little apples line.

  17. They are all wonderful. I really like Sarah Jane's collection. As an expecting grandmother, I am always captured by fabrics for my first granddaughter.

  18. I love all of them, but if I had to pick one today, it would be Sarah and Jane. Thank-you for the give-a-away.

  19. I can't wait to get my hands on some of Aneela's new line. It's every bit as wonderful as Sherbet Pips was! I love this FQB as well, so thanks for the chance to win!

  20. Butterscotch and Rose from Fig Tree, I know there will some of this line making it's way to home as soon as I can!

  21. I'm looking forward to Sarah Jane's fabric lines. I don't have kids, but her prints, cards, and puppets are so cute I can hardly wait to see them in future lines!
    thanks for the giveaway!

  22. All the lines are beautiful! My favorite would have to be Joanna's Butterscotch and Rose. I also really like the "fa la la la" wall hanging/pillow from Art to Heart. Thanks for all the pictures!

  23. The Butterscotch and Rose is classy just like everything Joanna puts out, but I also think i'd like Ruby!

  24. All are beautiful but my favorite has to be the new designer Sarah Jane for Michael Miller. I've previewed her fabrics and they are adorable!

  25. Of course Fig Tree. I am a bit of a Fig Tree groupie. I am intrigued by Cabbages and Roses. Browsed their blog and I am drawn to their style.
I clicked the Fig Tree link and it brought up the Peppermint Bark kit. That is SUPER cute! Are Moda bringing back honey buns?

  26. it is all so beautiful on the computer and i bet even more so where you can touch it! I always love Joanna's fab but I am also thinking the 'Cabbages and roses' looks very sweet. Thanks for a chance to win.

  27. I gotta be honest, my favorite is actually the Etchings. I just checked out the PDF at Moda's site and they are GORGEOUS. I'm a 3 Sisters junkie. 🙂

  28. I think I like the Butterscotch & Rose, from what I can see of it. Of course all the fabrics and patterns are gorgeous.

  29. Can hardly wait to see Cabbage & Roses designs. Looking at the photo and some of the things on their site, I know I'll be putting it on my list of favorite designers.

  30. So hard to choose just one. I love the gray in Etchings. Gorgeous! All of the lines are super, super cute.

  31. Ruby by Bonnie and Camille, they are my absolute fave designers, so far I have a quilt made with their first two lines and need to make one with their third.

  32. Thanks for the great review! I'll go for Joanna's Butterscotch & Rose, I always fall for her collections and this one looks so promising!

  33. I would my favorite is Amelia and a very close second is Ruby by Bonnie and Camille. Thank you for the give away.

  34. I love all of the pictures. It's like being there. My favorite so far is the Fig Tree quilts. Would like to see more of the booth.
    Thank you for showing us!
    Sally

  35. OMG – thanks for sharing the pictures…so envious! Can't wait for the Butterscotch and Rose from Fig Tree Quilts. Totalling obsessing here!!!

  36. OMG!!! So much Moda cuteness, it's overwhelming!! How can you pick just one favorite of the lines you posted??? I guess i'd go for the Butterscotch and Rose from Fig tree Quilts, but oh those Etchings….can't wait to see that bundle opened up!!! Thanks for the chance to win!

  37. So hard to pick! I'm going to have to go with the Heirloom collection though. I've been pulled to those sorts of prints lately!

  38. Oh! So hard to chose. I think my favorite is Heirloom By Joel Dewberry. But I also love Ruby, and Sarah Jane, oh… and of coarse Kona Cottons. Love these.

  39. Love the Joel Dewberry Heirloom; been wanting to make a lovely "heirloom" quilt for my mom with this line. Also, adore that quilt in the background at the Cluck.Cluck.Sew booth; it's trippy and super cool, easy to make on second look, but I love how the windmills create an optical illusion of more difficulty.

  40. Tough to choose, but I would say you can't go wrong with Joel Dewberry. Cosmo Cricket always has fun prints, too. They all look like they need a home with me!

  41. I am a huge Fig Tree fan and can't wait to see Joanna's new line. Thanks for the chance to win.

  42. Oh my…Ruby looks spectacular, but can't wait to see all of Going Coastal. Thanks for sharing the pics…it's like you have taken all of us along on the trip…YEAH!!!

  43. It is hard to choose my favorite as they are all soooo beautiful but I do love the brights in Cluck Cluck Sew.

  44. I've been a Nancy Halvorson fan from way back when. I've made a number of her patterns as gifts over the years. She never disappoints.

  45. If I could only pick one, it would be the Fig Tree line. There isn't one I'm not a fan of! You certainly have assembled the best designers here.

  46. Geez, it's hard to pick, but I'm anxious to see what Butterscotch and Rose looks like. Her lines are always beautiful.

  47. Love the excitement of Quilt Market – can only imagine how much fun it is! I'm impressed with them all, but the Cluck Cluck Sew photo's hold me captive!

  48. So many lovely patterns. First time I saw the Cosmo Cricket though… Need to check that one out for sure.

  49. Cosmo Cricket have me enthralled by their collections, I can't wait for the typewriters.
You look to be having a blast, thank you for keeping us informed and he great pictures.

  50. Pick one favorite? That's a tough one. Right now I'm torn between Amelia and Going Coastal. I sure would love to go to quilt market some day.

  51. Wow-they were all nice but if I had to pick one it would be from Fig Tree Quilts Butterscotch and Rose but the solids were nice too. We could all use those!

  52. Definitely Circa 1934! I can't wait to get some of those typewriter keys!! I also really like some of the prints in Children at Play from Sarah Jane, though I wish she didn't have so much gender stereotyping in her prints. I would have loved it even more if the hopscroth prints came in colours other than pink, and the kids play rocket models included some little girls too. Can't wait to see what else you'll show us! Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  53. The Heirloom fabric from Joel looks very interesting. Hope you are having a whole lot of fun. Thank you for the opportunity towin.
    Mary

  54. I know it's barely spring but I had to peek at what was behind the Art to Heart picture. I like both the Jingle all the Way fabric lines but while the deep reds and icy blues of the Icy line are great, I am leaning towards the earthy green and gold tones of Fir Tree. Thanks!

  55. So hard to choose–really love Cluck, Cluck, Sew patterns!!! If I'm picking fabric, it would be Ruby, followed by Kona Solids.

  56. I love seeing the Market photos. I like the Ruby fabric. Of course, my very favorite is the 3 Sisters fabrics. I seem to love everything they make.

  57. Favorites??? How could I choose a favorite? It must be so much fun to be at Quilt Market, seeing all the new lines of fabric and meeting all the designers. Well, since I must choose, I will say the Kona solids — the possibilities for these fabrics are limitless, as the colors are so yummy.

  58. Well… if I have to choose a favourite it would be the Kona solids. I love the crisp, cleanness of the colours and the fabric is great to work with.

  62. Hi everyone!
Isn´t it wonderful how 3Sisters always comes up with such beautiful fabrics in the most gorgous colours! Quilting wouldn´t be the same without it.
And what a coincident – I am an architect myself and I would love love, love to get my hands on those fabrics with the architectural drawings. The combination with roses is wonderful! – I think that could make a quilt just for me (I´ll share for cuddling up with my loved ones of course!!)

  72. From those you've shown in this post, I really love the 'Children at Play' by Sarah Jane fabrics. Those are just adorable. I think there could be some of those finding their way to my house. 144. Is it too late to enter? Well, I want to leave a comment anyways! I love the quilt pattern behind Bonnie and Camille. I'm working on a Lemoyne star quilt right now, and that looks like it might use similar pieces? This might be the most excited I've been about a quilt pattern, especially one with such a traditional look. Looking forward to hearing more about it!

  150. I love anything 3 Sisters, so Etchings has me intriqued. Of course the incomparable Kate Spain's new Terrain is pretty awesome, too!

  151. Wow so many creative ideas and crafts….where to begin. Love fig tree….oh the iron board cover……see

  152. I once met a lady in Salt Lake City,
Who looked at me and took great pity,
    "You live in Australia,
    Oh what a failure,
I'll just have to mail ya,
    Some lovely paraphernalia,
Just because you are so witty!"

I love Ruby the best. Xxoo.
