Fons & Porter’s has published my latest quilt, and you can find it in their Scrap Quilts Fall 2013 issue! I love traditional quilts and blocks, and I believe even the simplest blocks can find new life with the fabrics you choose.
I set out to do just that with a basic churn dash block and a scrap happy set of Happy Tones fabrics from Michael Miller, hence the name “Simple Joys”! The quilt turned out even better than I had dreamed, so bright, candy colored and… simply happy. I paired mostly complementary colors together for my two-toned churn dash block for extra pop, like pink and green and purple and yellow. Bright white holds them all together, and the alternating pink and blue sashing (my favorite colors) bedazzle it. A thin orange border and pink binding are the final colorful touches.
I hope you love Simple Joys as much as I do. I can’t wait to see what you choose to do with it! Kits are available from Fons & Porter, and be sure to pick up a copy of Scrap Quilts!
