Sewcialites 3 Block 1 – Idyllic by Chelsi Stratton

Today marks the first release of our 25-week quilt along, celebrating our amazing quilting community—Sewcialites 3! Each week, one of the 25 oh-sew-talented designers we’ve teamed up with is bringing you a new block pattern. This week, we’re excited to get started with the point-perfect Idyllic Block by Chelsi Stratton!

Idyllic Block by Chelsi Stratton

Chelsi Stratton (@chelsistratton) is a quilter, pattern designer (Chelsi Stratton Designs), fabric designer (Sherri & Chelsi for Moda Fabrics), podcast co-host (A Quilting Life), and the designer of this week’s intermediate-level Idyllic Block. Made with half square triangle units, hourglass units, and four patch units, this block will help you practice your points and working with a bias edge. You can join Kimberly for a live sewing tutorial of the Idyllic Block on Friday, February 20th, at 9AM CT, in the Behind The Seams Livestream on the Fat Quarter Shop YouTube Channel.

Chelsi asked her mom, Sherri, to tag in to sew her block! Sherri sewed Chelsi’s Idyllic Block with scraps from Delightfully Yours and Raspberry Summer by Sherri & Chelsi for Moda Fabrics.

Take a look at the Idyllic block in all three size options, using different collections! Kimberly sewed the 6″ block using Lyda Rose by Bunny Hill Designs for Moda Fabrics, Gina Tell (@gina_tell_threadgraffiti) made the 3″ block in Wild Honey by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics, and Pat Sloan (@quilterpatsloan) pieced her 9″ block with Rosie by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics.

Three of our Quilty Staffers are joining in and making the 9″ blocks using Blueprint by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics, American Gatherings III by Primitive Gatherings for Moda Fabrics, and In the Garden by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics.
