Fabric and quilt designer Minki Kim came by the Fat Quarter Shop studio to whip up some sweet sewing projects for us. What a treat! Her projects are all from her new book, Zakka from the Heart: Sew 16 Charming Projects to Warm Any Home. She created 16 patterns to go in the book, all inspired by sweet treats and the art of sewing.
With the help of Minki’s video tutorials, you’ll learn to sew several delectable projects including her embroidered Snack Mat and Macaron Pincushions! Her Snack Mat is a totally FREE pattern you’ll be able to use to practice drawing with thread.
One of Minki’s favorite ways to sew is to embroider. Her techniques allow projects to take on new looks through piecing, applique and illustrating with a term she has coined, “Sewing Illustration.” You’ll learn how she made these projects and how she incorporates illustrations in her sewing.

You’ll want to gather your supplies and make sure you’ve had your fill of sweets. These macarons are delicious, but just for pins! These pincushions are small and simple, but add a lot of flair to your sewing space! We made three sew we could enjoy them all over our sewing room.
