  1. This was another good box except for one item. I’m not impressed with the magnifying light. I played around with it and think it’s awkward and not really big enough to get any use out of. Since it was the most expensive item in the box I would rather have had a yard of fabric to go with the fabric bundle. I love Elizabeth Hartman so I think the pattern is adorable, like the fabric bundle too. This will sew up into a very cute quilt.

    1. The light was a lifesaver at my house. Husband and I ended up going through a tick nest and did not realize for about five hours. He had 66 ticks bites and four spider and I had 73 tick bites – all tiny deer ticks. We are forever greatfyl this lighted magnifier was in the Tropical Paradise box- worth its weight in gold!

      1. I used to live in tick country. A roll of painter’s tape can be your best friend. When you look down to see your legs covered in deer ticks just lay the tape on top and like the most wonderful kind of magic you not only remove them, they are now stuck on the tape and can easily be disposed of!

  2. These boxes are tons of fun!! Love love love the chuckles pattern – I quilt for charity and think that will be a fun pattern to make. I did not find a package of ruler stickers in my box and they do like they would be very useful – oh well. I can’t wait for the next surprise box!!

      1. Love the quilt box for August. I’m making the quilt for my nephew. He going to be turning one soon and I thinking this would be sweet quilt for him. Can’t wait to see what September box will behold for us and I’m hope for fall material because it my favorite time of the year. Plus that’s when Autumn start I believe.

  3. I agree with jody. The magnifying light was disappointing. I gave it to my 8 year old son. The fabric and labels are very pretty.

  4. I love the yoyo light! It was my favorite item in the box this month! As a matter of fact, I loved everything! Keep up the great work, keep the surprises coming! Thank you!

  5. I loved that I received my box earlier this month, great recovery from last months goof up. I too tried the Yoyo magnifier n it is not bright enough for my hand work.
I also love the colors this month. I live in FL so the pattern and colors are so beachy

  6. Received my quilt candy within 2 days of shipping! As always, I was just so happy with each item. The YoYo magnifier is just perfect for embroidery, stray splinters, missing needles, my traveling sewing kit, the list is just endless.

  7. I loved everything in the box this month, although not sure when or how I’ll use the magnifying light. Those labels are just too perfect!!!

  8. Wow, what service!! Received the FQS Sew Sampler box before the 20th which was filled with outstanding goodies. My husband was also impressed especially with the yoyo magnifier. Loved it because you can take it anywhere for a variety of uses. Have all ready enjoyed using it for cross-stitch projects. The FQS Sampler Box Team choose such unique items which epitomizes your first-rate business.

  9. Loved the August box. It was very cheery. I’m sure I’ll have no problem using everything in it. Those ruler stickers will sure come in handy and save lots of time lining up. The fabric was sweet and the pattern is really cute.

  10. Thisis my second box. Very, very pleased. I subscribed to the button club last yer and through first box this year. Dropped out not pleased with the changes-get much more for my money in this club.

  11. I love the YouTube block tutorial, those are so fun to watch! Can’t wait to make the Chuckles Quilt!!!

  12. When my grandson was little, his nickname was fish. Going to make this for him, he just bought a house, so double the fun!
    I loved this box!!

  13. Yoyo magnifier, too cool! I have had two failed cataract surgeries so even with implants, contacts, and reading glasses I’m still blind to anything close up. I will be getting a lot of use out of this. I loved every single item in the box this month. Thank you.

  14. The boxes just aren’t as good as they were when I first joined….they don’t seam to have any rhyme or reason….it would be nice if all the items were compatible with each other as a whole, not so random.

  15. I wasn’t sure about the magnifying light at first. I used it to rip out some stitches. I liked using this better than using reading glasses. It’s so much easier to see the stitches and you can position it over your work. I’m going to this for beadwork too.

  16. This was my first box and I loved it! I’m not sure I will use the stickers, but everything else will be utilized for sure. I love the magnifying light and the fabric. Oh, the fabric! I am quickly becoming a fabric junkie. Keep ’em coming!

  17. I loved the box, and the Chuckles pattern inspired me to make a wall hanging organizer. I ended up creating my own fish pattern. I wish the patterns included instructions for making just one block.

I am happy with the WH I made that has four pockets for my four sizes of WonderClips. I wish we could share pics of projects we’ve made using the SewSampler box.

  18. I am very disappointed as my sampler box has NOT yet arrived. The very first one and July box arrived only four days after shipping, but once again they are getting later and later arriving. Very disappointing as vouchers have expired before I even get to open my sew sampler box.

    1. Don’t blame FQS, they have no control over what happens after they turn it over to the Post Office. The P. O. Is not at all what it used to be.

  19. Loved everything but the magnifying glass. I too would have preferred more fabric or thread. This is my second box and it is so much fun wondering what is inside.

  20. Ohh I just loved this box!! Im already an Elizabeth Hartman fan!!! We own a boat and the hubby suggested I make this quilt for the beds… I was soo happy and ordered a half yard bundle of Reef…hehehe love it when its a win win for hubby and I lol

  21. I loved this box and all of the items! Just was not happy with the new shipping method for international buyers! It usually takes 5-8 days to arrive at my doorstep. Now it takes at least 14 days! Not really acceptable. Especially when you consider the international shipping fee of 16$ for the box of 24.95$. The same box would ship from Germany to US for around 3.70€…
Hope Fat Quarter Shop will return to the faster shipping method they had until last month!!!

  22. I really really liked this box! The magnifying light is extremely handy to have and the ruler stickers will be helpful. I love this fabric, cannot wait to get started on sewing it!
