  1. I have received my October sew sampler box and I have to be honest and just state that I like it. I am always excited to get my box each month and love the surprise contents. I have really loved loved loved all my previous boxes, but this one was a little disappointing for me. Looking forward to November's box!!! I never like leaving sort of negative comments since Fat Quarter Shop does such a great job with the Sew Samplers, but I think it is important for your customers to be honest. I am sure some subscriber's are just thrilled with this month's box and that is okay too!

  2. I love the October box. And I've loved all the others too. I've been a subscriber since the second box — wish I hadn't missed the first one! The latest box with the handmade theme (& Cosmo floss) has more items I'll use than previous boxes. Some boxes will be a better "fit" than others, which reflects the diversity in the world of quilting.

  3. I am loving my surprise box. I happen to have some charm packs that match the 1/8's rolls so I am planning a nice size quilt that will include embroidery. Looking forward to November's sampler already.Thank-you!

  4. I bought the Little House Glass Head pins awhile ago and was really disappointed by them. The coating on the shaft of the pins chipped off in random spots thereby making the pins have jagged edges that then would catch on the fabric when I pinned. I've been throwing them out as they've chipped and am left with about 20 now. I never ironed them nor hit them with my machine needle while sewing. Anyone else have this problem?

  5. I like getting my box – this was my third one. If there is anything I don't need or use, I donate it to a friend who doesn't have it. I really look forward to its delivery each month.

  6. I loved this sampler box! I love Bonnie and Camille and would never normally buy embroidery needles or floss. What I've personally like about the monthly subscription is that I'm getting things that both i love and would normally get mysel PLUS I'm getting things I wouldn't normally pick up for myself. The rule holder that was in last months (or the month before)-I would never think to buy that but now that I have it and in use -I want to get another one! That's pretty awesome b/c I never originally thought it would be of any help but it's great storing my square creative grid rulers. I think these boxes have been a great mix of all things Fat Quarter Shop is great for (fabric, notions, needles, threads and patterns to name a few. I've not been disappointed

  7. I signed up for my sister, myself and our quilting friend in Michigan. The Oct. box was our first Sampler. The anticipation was a big part of the fun and when we each received our boxes on the same day, we conference-called and opened our boxes at the same time. We were not at all disappointed and agree with others who have said that each box may contain items that you might not normally purchase but could encourage you to try something new. This shipment was very timely as our friend's husband was going in for surgery and the box was a wonderful day brightener for her. Many thanks!

  8. I have to say that I was so excited to be receiving a sew sampler box. I saw the fabric, notions, tins, bobbin holders, etc. that were in your previous month's boxes and thought how wonderful…those boxes had things I would and could use. I drooled over my friend's August box and was disappointed when I missed signing up for the September box by one day….but the operative word here is was. I was expecting more quilting items. Yes, there was quantity but not what I think of as sewing or quilting quality. I don't need pins (at least pins, which according to the one blogger above, are not great) and I don't need the crewel needles or the floss. I am more than a bit disappointed.

  9. As always I'm thrilled with my sew sampler box! I love to receive products I may not ordinarily purchase because let's face it, sewing & quilting are evolving and changing. Today's quilting would dismay my grandmother. I love it all ~ traditional, modern, quirky, whatever! Each month I am delighted to get a new fabric line & themed goodies to complement it. Way to go FQS!

  10. I liked this month's box, although I don't embroider. I like getting items I'll use, or it just makes me feel that I'm building out my already too big stash. I've put my Jolly Bar book, 'Create' bag from last month holding all the monthly recipe cards and my single patterns into the mesh bag, I've been wanting to order those glass headed pins for a bit but thought they'd end up in a box and I'll probably use most of the fabrics in the fat eighth. My ruler holder is being used to hold my most commonly used rulers, so I'm glad I got that last month.

I've started taking classes at a local quilt store, so I'll probably pass on some of the items I know I won't use that way.

  11. Can't wait for mine to arrive, but would have loved for it to have included that adorable blue hoop you keep showing, hehehe.

  12. I always love receiving my surprise box. And although I too do not embroidery by hand I will use the crewel needles and floss as gifts to other friends who do. They will be thrilled. I love to share and to give so I am never disappointed when things come that I can share. Crafters and Quilters are loving and giving people. Smile On and Enjoy and Share the goodies. Thanks for giving me a smile to look forward to each month.

  13. Love this box! High quality items and I will use them to embellish an art quilt I'm making. I will continue my subscription (was debating after the Sept box was disappointing to me) and hope the November box is wonderful too.

  14. When I receive my Sampler box it is just like Christmas. I do a lot of different sewing so whatever you send I will like even if I have doubles.
You can't please everyone all the time. I have been receiving the boxes since the second box and have enjoyed every one. I wish I hadn't missed the first one, I was a little slow getting registered.

  15. Hi:) …. I LOVE the Sew Sampler Boxes!!! … What a Fun experience
the Fat Quarter Shop girls have created … The price is right, the value and variety of the contents is perfect, and the anticipation of receiving them is just Heaven:)! … It's a Fun Thing …
Thanks for all your planning and thought to put this little Box into
    us Sewers Paws … XOXO

  16. I liked this month's box but was somewhat disappointed. It seams you keep sending out the same style of fabrics. I would like to see more of a variety. I don't like being critical because I do enjoy getting my box every month, but I have to be honest. I'm looking forward to next months' box. I love seeing the hints. So fun!!

  17. I haven't been disappointed yet!! Love everything you've sent me. Thank you so much for all the effort you put into making these boxes so fabulous!! Now I'm looking forward to the November box ….

  18. I waited with anticipation for my very first Sew Sampler Box. It came on Friday. I have to say I was extremely disappointed in the Sew Sampler Box. It was not at all what I expected from other boxes that were sent out. I love FQS but I have to say I cancelled after receiving my first box.

  19. Hi from Sidney, Montana! I have received my first Sew Sampler box for October. I was pleased with what I got for the money. Thank you very much. I do cross stitch, however, I have a lot of thread, but maybe some of my kids can use it. I am a new quilter at 79. I hope I can learn so I can make some things for my family. Thank you again and I will be waiting for the November surprise.

  20. This was my first box and I was not impressed. I'm hoping the upcoming months provide products I can actually use and get excited about. I'm with a previous blogger who stated the glass head pins were not good. I have about 10 usable ones left from the ones I already purchased so the ones in the box will be donated. I may use the embroidery floss for hand applique on a UFO. I don't care for the fabric line or fat eighths. All in all, for a newbie to the Sampler Box program, I was/am very disappointed.

  21. I have always been so excited to received my Fat Quarter box, but I agree with with some of the other comments, I'm a quilter, and didn't care for the floss. The previous boxes, I loved! I really do hope you stick to just quilting items. To the person, that replied that they were going to cancel getting the boxes, I would recommend that they shouldn't. All in all, I really do think Fat Quarter Shop is doing a great job with the boxes, just didn't care for October's

  22. I love receiving my sampler box every month and understand that everyone has different tastes, but PLEASE stop with the bright colorway of fabric choices. I have been a member since the second month and every fabric except for one x-mas themed charm pack have all been a child like mix of bright pink, green, blue and red. Since I don't care for primary colors and don't have young kids , I had no use for them, so I have given all away. Why not include some primitive, darks, nuetrals or reproduction for the rest of us who do not care for brights. It really is rather biased and excludes half of us quilters.

  23. This is my third box and its like Christmas every month! If there is ever anything I won't be using, I will gift it to someone who will. I love Bonnie and Camille so the fat 8ths will be used. The floss is beautiful but I only use pearl cotton now but I plan on using the pattern and making my daughter the bag and I will put the floss in there.
Very excited about the chenille needles tho!
I am not sure what I will do with the mesh bag but I will think of something.
I can hardly wait for November's box!

  24. This was my second Sew Sampler box and I was disappointed by the contents. The needles, pins and floss were a big disappointment. I will hang in there another month and see if October was just a dud box.

  25. I always look forward to getting my little box of goodies. But I must admit that this one was a disappointment.I really dislike hand embroidery.doing it or displaying it.The quality of the fabric seems to have gone down the tubes also. I will wait for the next box and see if I see an improvement before I cancel.

  26. This is my first box and I love it! I am excited to see what I will all do with these items. I know that a lot of people are disappointed but if you think "outside of the box" I bet you will find uses for all of the items that are inside this box.

I wish there was a way to order previous boxes, maybe at a little higher price then the subscription cost to make it fair to FQ Shop but a chance to get the box the way it was shipped originally at a bit of a discount over ordering everything separate, just a thought.

  27. I have been a subscriber to the Sew Sampler program since May and have always been thrilled to receive the latest box in the mail. I don't like to leave negative reviews but honestly don't feel that the quality of the October sampler was up to the others. For a quilters box, why were embroidery floss and needles included? I'm hoping November and future boxes are better. My favorite one received was the sampler box with the crayon quilt pattern and fabric.

  28. This was also my first sampler box and I have to say I was quite disappointed. I had checked out previous boxes and they had such wonderful quilting items in there, this one had non quilting items in there (my humble opinion). I signed up for a sampler of quilting items and I'm hoping that the next to come will be as exciting as Sept, Aug and July's were.

  30. I have loved all my boxes! I love that there is always fabric! My only thought is that they are all very similar in color. I'd like to see great variety in colors.

  32. I liked this month's box. I don't embroider so I signed up for a class at a local quilt shop. No harm in that, right? I loved the Sweet Orchard roly poly (a few months ago) and am making a jelly roll jam baby quilt for no one in particular. I should be able to give it to a relative eventually. I think the fabric choices in the box are always great for me because I like the modern fabrics; I'm not a traditional quilter. We get some great stuff in these boxes, most of which I wouldn't buy on my own. But as a sewist, "whoever dies with the most stuff wins…" I would have never bought jolly bars as I'm a fat quarter kind of gal, but I will make something out of them. Keep them coming, FQS.

  33. I found my box when I returned home from a trip abroad. To be honest, I loved this box very much. After having been disappointed with September box I am so happy now with the actual one. As for me, I love doing hand stitching and embroidery and so the thread and needles are great! Love the fabric too, Bonny and Camille belong to my favourites. Some comments showed that people were not happy with the pins, I do not have any experiences with it so hopefully this will be fine with me. As I am a quilter that loves bright and fun colours and prints I was happy with every fabric pull I had received so far. A seasonal fabric selection would be lovely too as long as there are no dark or muddy colours, vintage, civil war or retro fabrics in it. I would not find any use for it. Great box this month!
