I am thrilled with everything and I mean everything in the November box. Thank You FQS and just know we are grateful for all you do.

  8. Harvest Road from Lella Boutique is great , with Aurifil thread to match is also great. Don’t like the magnetic pin – quite useless and frankly dangerous I think. I can’t imagine wearing a pin with scissors and needles attached (all be it magnetically) .

    1. Hi Gail. I don’t think the pin is to be worn. I assumed it was to be attached to the quilt you are working on so if you stop in the middle of binding you don’t lose your needle (in the quilt or by falling off) and your scissors are there handy.

    2. Gail, it’s not a pin. It’s magnetic so that when you are hand sewing (cross stitch, binding, etc), your needle can stay near where you are working without getting lost, misplaced, slip out of your project, etc). You don’t wear it, you put it on your project. Hope that helps.

      2. Hmm. I’ll try that but I keep thinking the needle will be drawn UNDER the sewing machine rather than sitting on top of it. I use the magnetic pinholders all the time and thought this was like that.

  10. I liked it mostly but the thing is, I bought the perfect five rulers with the book. So now I have two. Had I known it was going to be offered in the Sew Sampler I would have waited. 🙂 Please don’t take that as a complaint but I don’t really need two of the same rulers. Somehow I ended up with two Lori Holt Cute Cuts Trim It 8.5″ Square Ruler when I ordered 2, Lori Holt, Crazy Quilt Paper. I have no idea how it happened. I guess I better pay better attention. 🙂 Anyway, I love what comes in our sampler box regardless. I’m slowly gaining new notions I probably wouldn’t ordinarily go and buy especially because I’m a newbie and some things I know I needed and I bought at the beginning but other things I’ve postponed and slowly but surely they have come in a sampler box to test out.

  17. I loved the November box, especially the beautiful fabric and the ruler. Always love getting patterns. Haven’t tried to use the needle minder yet, but I’m getting a quilt back soon from the LAQ and it’ll need lots of binding. These boxes are so fun!

  23. I loved everything in this box!I am already using the needle minder with a quilt I am quilting. I can’t wait to use the fabric. I haven’t come up with a pattern yet, but I will. I am not into small quilts or I would make the pattern that came in the box. It is really pretty and I am sure I will get use out of it.

  24. I really liked the fabric and pattern, I do wish for more bigger quilt size patterns though. Some of the ones I made, I just added extra borders to the quilts for my children.
    Been slowly working on using up some of the other fabrics from previous boxes for the goodness grows blocks. It’ll be interesting how it turns out in the end, since I don’t have a big stash of fabrics. Been quilting less than a year. This was a really nice box

  36. This was probably my favorite box this year!! The charm squares were definitely ones that I will use- soon! I can’t wait until the finishing kit is available. I always like to get rulers- even if I have duplicates….. Sometimes I will put one in my retreat bag, and sometimes I will bring it to camp, so that I have an extra ruler or two that I don’t have to transport back and forth. And the magnetic pin will come in handy when doing had work, just to have it close to me to keep track of my pins and needles. Keep up the good work

  37. Meh. Seems the boxes get smaller every month with fewer items each time. Not a fan of traditional fabrics.

    1. I tend to agree. Not a huge fan of the duller fabrics, but it’ll make a nice donation quilt. I knew that there would be a variety when I signed up and loved everything else – especially the ruler and the pin!

    2. I agree with the “boxes getting smaller every month.” I’ve subscribed since Box 3. Recently, I was checking my memory about an item from a past box, and ended up on a trip down memory lane as I looked through many of the boxes from the past on FQS’s FB page, Pinterest, etc.. It was sad to see what we used to get compared to the current boxes. I’m obviously still a subscriber, and I generally enjoy the boxes (and do the best I can to re-gift duplicates and things not to my liking), but the current boxes pale in comparison to those from the first 12-18 months….sigh.

  49. Fabulous excitement upon opening: I cut on Fri, pieced on Sat, quilted to minky, and presented it as a gift to my father in law on Thanksgiving. That’s how much I loved it.

  55. I will possibly use the needle minder as I hand bind my quilt projects. I do love that it is a sewing machine. I have the ruler in my stash all ready. Fabric is pretty and I think I may actually try the pattern using it. The matching thread is nice.

My granddaughter (age 3) loved the sewing machine pin, I had to chase her down to get it back, LOL, she wanted to take it home with her, I told her I would save it for her when she is ready to start sewing ( I’m not ready to teach her she likes playing to much).   62. This was one of the best I have gotten. I was going to see if I needed to cancel the subscription. This was a WINNER. Everything was useful except the magnet. The fabric was great, no pink. It included thread, and a lovely pattern. You can never have too many rulers. Keep this bundle in mind when making the rest.

  71. I was so excited to renew my membership. I received my Nov Sew Sample in the mail. In the excitement of the pkg. I was walking into our garage and my shoe caught on a tiny crack on the floor of the garage ! I fell and landed on my arm near the shoulder… needless to say I have a complete fracture across my whole arm. it will take about 8 weeks to heal. so for now I just look at my Nov, Dec & Jan sew Sample boxes and wish I could be sewing them !

      I’m fairly new to quilting and have a 19 month old, along with 3 older homeschooled children. I know what it’s like not to be able to sew. I crave that time, but so hard sometimes, knowing there is so much to sew, but not being able too.

  79. I was so happy with these colors! I plan on making this one for sure. I put the needle minder on a little metal stand I have that was originally used to hold a recipe card. It works great! I have several other little quilting pins on display and now have added this one. I keep several needles hand on it and it keeps them separate from my pin cushion.

    2. I do not hand stitch bindings or cross stitch. I put my needle minder on my Lori Holt Book Stand to hold patterns/paperwork in place. Perfect!! 😊

I would love a coupon towards the finishing kit. It would be nice also to get a full kit in the box. Like everything to make a Christmas stocking.     I will love this box!!! It is my favorite! The fabric is so wonderful, I like the ruler, the pattern and all the other things.

    But I have a little “problem” now: My package is still being hold in customs at Frankfurt/Airport Germany!
    I think it will take nearly one week till I can hold it in my hands. 🙁

    Now I can’t wait for it! Hopefully in this case it takes not so much time!?!

  89. This was my first sampler box. I absolutely loved everything in the box. The fabric is not what I usually choose. I’m a vintage and brights girl (at the moment) but when I saw the luscious browns and greens pared with this soft creams, I was in love! The ruler is one I do not have and the beautiful Aurifil thread was perfect. I was most impressed with the packaging. Top notch as with everything I order from Fat Quarter Shop. I can’t wait for December! Thank you foe being the best online quilt shop.

  91. The sew sampler boxes are a pleasant surprise every month. I’ve used all my notions and fabric, except the sewing machine fabric, saving to make a messenger bag out of that. So fun and useful every time.
    The ruler box is holding all my 3×5” cards that mess up the table, used the ruler several times, made that quilt with flannel back. Great thread color. I wore that needle minder as a decorative pin on my denim jacket! Ha! Couldn’t resist. Thank you!

I have been receiving Sew Sampler boxes since April of this year, and although I love getting them and the surprise of opening the box each month, most of the time they have not been my style of fabric and patterns. They are still fun, and I am thankful for the chance to stretch out of my comfort zone; plus I realize that what I don’t care for, others will love. But THIS TIME, I absolutely love every single item and am so thrilled with the fabric and pattern, as they ARE my style…….I almost don’t want to let it out of my sight until I can find the time to sit and sew using it!!   105. Fabric and pattern are very nice. I will enjoy the ruler since I work with small fabric pieces. The magnet…troublesome,a needle gravitates to the backside, will not hold a pin on the front either…let alone a small scissors, wondering if the magnets are positioned wrong. Holds well on metal bulletin board. Cannot use as others are describing. Be interested in knowing if others have tried to see if theirs work as an aid to hold needle and small scissor when sewing by hand.
