All New Sew Colorful Spools Pattern

We’re excited to present a new quilt designed exclusively for the Fat Quarter Shop by Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts!

Sew Colorful Spools Sampler Quilt

Corey Yoder designed the Sew Colorful Spools Sampler Quilt Pattern exclusively for our the Fat Quarter Shop’s Sew Colorful Monthly Subscription bundle. The Spools Quilt cleverly uses different colored spools to showcase fabrics from the entire year. The pattern features 6 different spool blocks that can be mixed and matched as you’d like, and it works wonderfully to use up all of those little bits and pieces of colorful fabrics you may have left over after working on your larger Sew Colorful projects. The Sew Colorful Spools Sampler quilt can be made in 4 different sizes (Crib, Throw, Lap and Full) and you can add scraps from your stash pile to make a scrappier quilt.

The fabrics from the monthly Sew Colorful Fat Quarter Club are plenty to make the spools out of. To complete the rest of the quilt top, a light and dark fabric are required. A Spools Fabric Finishing Kit with light and dark fabrics and binding is available.

Sew Colorful Spools Quilt Along

We invite you to join us for our Quilt Along! The club will ship on the 29th of each month beginning in January, and Kimberly Jolly and Corey Yoder will be quilting along with us on the blog and social media. We’ll have prizes for Sew Colorful Club members that are quilting along. Each month, members participating with the hashtag #sewcolorfulqal on Instagram will be entered to win a prize of thread and notions that go with the color of the month.

Blocks

This is a beginner-friendly project, and it’s fun for experienced quilters, too. The six blocks in the pattern start with a 9 Patch Spool, a Strips Spool and increase in complexity to a Friendship Star and Fancy Free Spool. You can make the blocks from whichever colors you like. It’s up to you!

Quilt Designer Corey Yoder

The designs Corey Yoder creates and publishes for Coriander Quilts showcase her love for putting a modern twist on traditional block designs. She is a regular contributor to quilt magazines and books, and she is the author of Playful Petals. Quilt design quickly led to fabric design and she has been designing for Moda Fabrics since 2014. Her newest fabric collection is called Sunny Side Up.

Have an Oh Sew Colorful Year with our newest fabric club, the Sew Colorful Fat Quarter Club! Inspired by our 2018 Year of the Fat Quarter Bundles, this club brings a bevy of new, color-coordinated basics each month! Fifteen fat quarters make up each month’s collection, a bundle based on a color like aqua, green, pink and gray. They’re all from fabric collections that are new out this year, and the bundles are curated by the Fat Quarter Shop! This club starts in January 2019.
