Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 8 – Giveaway Closed

Welcome to another Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Blog Tour! We are excited to present three blocks in from the issue, all by Fat Quarter Shop ladies, and give away FIVE copies of the magazine! We hope you enjoy our blocks, and be sure to stop by the Quilty Pleasures blog for even more 100 Blocks fun!

First up is Kimberly’s 100 Blocks block! Rush Hour is a fun block, featuring Cruiser Blvd by Sheri McCulley for Riley Blake Designs. Zip around the sharp corners in the focal chevron using the “Stitch-and-Flip” technique! Beep beep! Look out we’re coming through!

Debbie Taylor takes you to a serene retreat in the snowy mountains with Aspen Retreat. Construct this log cabin-esque block with fiery reds and cool aquas for a gorgeous mix of colors. Debbie’s version is made using Aspen Frost by BasicGrey for Moda Fabrics.

Jocelyn Ueng brightens up her block with Happy Go Lucky fabric by Bonnie & Camille! This block is perfect for a fresh, Spring quilt. It may not look like much on its own, but we know you will come up with some very interesting patterns using this block! Hint, hint!

  2. It would be hard to choose between Babar (which obviously will be very popular here in France!)and Button Tree Lane – I love any fabrics with "sewing theme" motifs!

  7. I'm loving Angry Birds Star Wars fabric — too funny! I am not a fan of Angry Birds; but, I have family who adore both Angry Birds and Star Wars. So, a perfect blend!

    I also had to add Shaded Chevron Medium, Geeky Chick 2, and Shop Local to the wish list!

    And Yay! I am so happy to see that the Fat Quarter Shop designers made it into the magazine again!

  57. I like the Cruiser Blvd, what a great use of the fabric. Gives me ideas for other prints that I say "what to do with, but love." Like you site as there are many good blocks and quilts for inspiration.

  60. Congratulations on having three blocks published! Kimberly's block is a really fun block and would be great in a toddler's quilt, especially if done in the Cruiser Blvd fabric. Debbie Taylor's block looks really great in Christmas colors. I agree, Jocelyn's block would make such a fun spring time quilt! I really like the Tour des Fleurs Collection and would love to use fabric from the American Beauty Yardage for some QOV quilts. Thanks for the chance to win!

  62. Wow! I love all the fabrics that would be great for baby boy quilts! For myself – Aunt Grace Minatures, Lavendar Cologne & Cotton, Downton Abby, and Lily are my top picks. Cowboy Up Pink would be great for my 6 yr old granddaughter and beginning quilter!

  63. I think my favorite "coming" fabric is the Downton Abbey collection. I saw a bag a lady had made in the fabric that she got a MARKET in Houston and it was lovely!! I like the Dowager Countess Downton Abbey Fat Quarter Bundle by Andover Fabrics

  80. What a task to choose new collections for my wish list! I can not stop at just three or four choices. I guess that is why my stash grows so fast. Narrowed down I wish for Botanics, Emily's Eyelet Artisan Batiks and Mirabelle. Julie Herman's Disco quilt using Botanics has my number as well. I already have the ruler so just fabric, pattern and the time and I am good to go.

  84. Cute block and cute fabric in Rush Hour. Aspen Retreat is great – I love log cabins and stars! And, finally, Jocelyn Ueng's block is so fresh and bright that it inspires me to try a quilt with the pattern.

  85. Two of my favorites from the new lines: Honey Bee Mine and Hubba Hubba. Wonderful complimentary colors in both lines! And I love Aspen Frost. Beautiful combinations of patterns and colors.

  86. All of them…no seriously all of them. I'm trying to rebuild my collection after losing so many from several different moves. Sad but on the up side I get to shop for fabric again…all good =)

  87. I love the aged muslins. I love solids. I think they just add a great pop to quilts. I've been having an issue with double vision and prints add confusion to my already conflicted brain so solids help to calm all that confusion.   88. It's a tough choice, but I'd have to pick either Lotta Jansdotter's Mormor or Holly Hill's Tour des Fleurs. One modern–one traditional–both beautiful.
