Since Lori Holt’s new book came out we’ve been oohing and ahhing over this charming quilt! We are sew excited to host this sew along for Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet’s newest book, Prim & Proper.
This week we’re going to sew the Prim Star Block. We’re making our way through this beautiful quilt and sharing our progress along the way.
The Prim Star Block starts on page 22. You will make four.
About the Quilt
Lori pulls beloved elements from vintage medallion applique and cross stitch to create an exquisite sampler quilt. The quilt features an elaborate vintage vase holding a sweet floral arrangement of flowers and leaves, surrounded by a colorful array of cross-stitches honoring a sister art. It’s sewn with traditional piecing techniques and it finishes at 63.5″ x 75.5″. There is no paper piecing or applique needed.
Fabric Requirements and Supplies
You will need your Prim & Proper book and some fabrics to make this quilt! You can find the fabric requirements and more details in our Kick-Off post. To create the cover quilt just like ours, pick up the Prim & Proper Quilt Kit and 2.25 yards of backing fabric.

I just found out my daughter ordered this book for me for Christmas. Is it possible to still join?? I might be able to catch up if I do a marathon quilting session – which I have been known to do ;). I have the Prim fat quarter bundle that I have been using for sewscoialites- and have plenty of the 10 inch fabric requirements… so.. what do you think?
I agree – a marathon sewing session is in order! 🙂 Next week is the final week for us, putting the top together. I think no matter what you’ll be delighted when you finish. Let me know how it goes! I’ll be cheering you on 🙂
