Today’s post is all about binding and we have four binding tutorials for you today! Kimberly has struggled with binding for years and through trial and error, she developed her own tricks and tips to make binding easy!
Our first video features Kimberly’s favorite hand binding technique featuring the double fold technique. This is our binding method of choice for keepsake quilts since it gives a perfect finish. Kimberly also shows you how to use the binding tool to join your ending strips.
In our second video, Kimberly will teach you how to machine bind your quilts. If you have not tried machine binding before, this method is simple. With lots of pins and a little bit of patience, you will have a perfectly bound quilt in half the time it would take to bind by hand. This is a method we use on small projects and on quilts when we have a time crunch.
Our third video features Barb and Mary of Me and My Sister Designs. Their binding technique uses strip cut 2 ¼” wide, and they have little waste when joining the ending of their strips.
In our fourth video, Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts shows her double-fold binding technique. This is truly a new learning experience since this is a new technique that 99% of you have probably never seen! She explains how to lessen the bulk of your binding using this double-fold technique that will leave your binding soft and durable. Edyta starts by cutting her binding strips 1 ¾” wide. You can find more information on this binding technique in her Scrappy Fireworks and Friendship Strips and Scraps books.
