Layer Cake Lemonade Anniversary! - The Jolly Jabber Quilting Blog

Layer Cake Lemonade Anniversary!

Happy anniversary to one of our favorite Shortcut Quilts, Layer Cake Lemonade! This tasty quilt is the perfect way to use up all of those layer cakes we have laying around our sewing room. Watch Kimberly’s video tutorial to see how you can make this super quick quilt.
For our anniversary quilt, we chose to create our version with the Purebred collection by Erin Michael for Moda Fabrics. And YES! We have quilt kits and backing sets available at our shop!
But we didn’t stop there. We also transformed our Layer Cake Lemonade pattern using Charm Packs and Mini Charm Packs! Cute right?

We would love to see your Layer Cake Lemonade creations on Instagram by using #layercakelemonade.

  1. I am finishing up a Layer Cake Lemonade right now, as a Christmas gift! I made it between the lap size and twin size, and I have to say, it is my new "go-to" pattern for quick gifts. Easy way to show off great fabric, or fun quilting, and have a stress-free gift ready in no time!

    Thank you!!

  2. Love this pattern…and thank you for making one in Charm and Minis for us also…..such a cute quilt this pattern makes…girly, or manly.. either way, the fabrics are the stars…….

  3. Thanks so much. Great timely post for me. I have a layer cake of Purebred and love how this showcases those fabrics. and I know a little girl who is horse mad and might just love to have a quilt like this. happy Thanksgiving!

(I don't know if that's supposed to be an ad but when I clicked on the embedded tutorial I was expecting the quilt tutorial but instead got an ad for an electronics charger)

  4. Thanks. But that's what was strange. It was a 2 minute 41 second ad and there was no "Skip Ad" button. That's why I thought it wasn't supposed to be there.

  5. Thanks for the vid! Love the fabric in the quilt on the wall to the far right (your left)–what is it?

  6. KIMBERLY!!! I wanted to tell you that up until I found fatquartershop, I never starched my fabrics, and I always pre-washed! But……now I NEVER pre-wash (I do only buy fabrics from quilt shops fatquartershop, of course;)!), and I starch, starch, starch! What a huge difference in my piecing and cutting! I figured I'm washing it when I'm done anyway, so why do all that extra work!?
Thanks for the great tips, and brilliant free tutorial videos and patterns!

  7. Anybody do this in a king size? Not sure why they never listed the directions for that, when they have every other size imaginable! I am a beginner, and don't want to try to calculate that and screw up such a large project!
