Kate Spain Blog Hop: In from the Cold Quilt Kit

Today is Fat Quarter Shop’s stop on Blossom Hearts QuiltsKate Spain Blog Hop! We are talking about a favorite project made with Kate Spain fabric, and trust us, the the choice was not easy! We have used Kate Spain fabric in so many great kits and programs, like our 2010 Designer Mystery Block of the Month, Patchwork Forest quilt and Pick Up Sticks quilt, but after much delibiration we chose to feature the In from the Cold quilt! Cozy up with a cup of cocoa and we will tell you more about this quilt!

The quilt features Kate Spain’s latest Christmas fabric, In from the Cold. The collection features playful prints in colors that really pop!

The In from the Cold quilt is made from Moda’s FREE project sheet! The quilt is adorned with cheerful cups of cocoa and contains plenty of negative space for fun quilting. Each steaming cup is different, and we can hardly choose a favorite! Do you have a favorite cup?

We hope you love the In from the Cold quilt as much as we do. We will be offering kits at Fat Quarter Shop, once In from the Cold yardage arrives!

Head over to Blossom Heart Quilts to follow along with the rest of the tour. There are plenty of prizes and you will see some great Kate Spain projects along the way!

  1. Well…. I'll be… ain't this just so sweet!!! I can smell the cocoa wafting in the air!!! The steam swirls is genius!

  2. We have a group of 6 ladies who chose this pattern to do as a block of the month quilt. We fell in love with the cups too! We are on month 3 this month. Some are doing it with Christmas fabric and some not. We will finish up in December.

  3. I am already tasting the hot chocolate steaming from those cups. Good choice of a quilt for the QAL.

I have the pattern printed and just need the fabric to get started on making it.

  4. This is a fictional account of an imaginary event that happened one day somewhere to someone, or maybe it did not happen at all. Regardless, I have printed all 28 pages of the quilt pattern In from the Cold and want to win the fabric so I can make this awesome quilt.
One day Verna and Joy were walking with me in Central Park. It was our Good Fortune to receive a Serenade, an invitation to walk on the Sunnyside of the street, and to come in from the Cold and snow Flurry to celebrate the 12 Days of Christmas open house at the coffee shop. To our surprise, our mutual friend Honey Honey had arranged for Kate Spain to appear at that coffee shop. So, there we were all snug and cozy listening to Kate Spain regale us with the stories behind her collections of Fandango, Terrain, and Cuzco. Kate Spain is such a fantastic designer and teller of stories. Thanks Kate!

  7. I have a question, how do you know which fabrics go with which cup? Or doesn't it matter. It appears the pattern has color coding, but I can't figure out on some which pattern fabric is which. Thanks, I can be emailed at robbysmommyga@aol.com
