Join the Monthly Markings Stitch Along

In 2021, I am starting a new year-long stitch-along! I am so excited that I am in stitches over it. Please join me, Kimberly Jolly, in January as I start stitching along for the Monthly Markings Stitch Along.

Leave your mark with me each month as we complete a pattern each month from the Monthly Markings Pattern Set. Of course, I switched up my thread colors and fabric choice and am going to show you if you’d like to stitch the same. The Monthly Markings Thread Pack is available with all the information for each substitution, and since this is a year of Aida, I will be stitching mine on Venetian Stone 14 Count Aida. If you already have the patterns and a collection of Weeks Dye Works, you can get started with your own color choices!

I will start stitching the January Monthly Markings Pattern in January and will feature my progress on my FlossTube each week starting January 6. Be sure to follow along and get notifications when I am live on Fat Quarter Shop FlossTube Channel.

Our stitchy staffer Cheryl stitched my version as a model with Kimberly’s Monthly Markings Weeks Dye Works Thread Pack on Venetian Stone 28 Count Linen by Wichelt Imports. You can see Cheryl’s piece on the left.

The original Monthly Markings piece from Cecilia Turner of Heart in Hand was stitched over two using two strands in all the original colors. She used a mix of Weeks Dye Works thread and The Gentle Art thread on Dirty 32 Count Belfast Linen. You can see Cecelia’s piece on the right.

  1. Any other cloth color recommendations other than venetian stone? From the photos, it looks to have a lot of brown in it, and our house is more blues and grey. I’d love suggestions for other colors (even bold colors if they would work).

    1. I’m so sorry you didn’t get a response to your question sooner! Kimberly stitched hers on 28ct cloth, so the piece will measure about 3.8″ x 28.6″ when finished. If you stitch with the recommended 16ct/32 ct cloth, you’ll get a smaller piece that measures 3.3″ x 25″. To that, you’ll add 3-4″ additional inches on all sides for framing.

  2. I have stitched 3 of the seasonals. Where did you get your frames? Have searched high and low, but can’t find anything! Any help, appreciated.

  3. Exactly what size cloth do I need? I’m not big on the color suggested and I might have something in my closet I could use.
