Introducing Moda Fabric’s New Designers!

Hi everyone! We’re so excited to introduce two of Moda Fabrics NEWEST fabric designers and collections. First we have Ambleside by Brenda Riddle of Brenda Riddle Designs. Her collection for Moda Fabrics is inspired by her Grandmother’s quilts and her vintage fabric collection. Ambleside’s colors and prints reflect the crisp breath of spring.
We’re loving the soft spring hues of Ambleside.
Jen Kingwell of Jen Kingwell Designs is no stranger in the quilting world. Her huge fan base in Australia and her new take on traditional quilts makes her the queen of scrappy! Jen’s first collection for Moda Fabrics, Gardenvale, was inspired by her love of scrappy quilts. She enjoys the process of mixing many fabrics in each project, the more the better! Her quilt designs are often described as vintage with a modern twist!
Gardenvale is absolutely stunning and it’s the perfect addition to your stash!
Can’t wait to get your hands on them? We have both collections available for pre-order at our shop!

And guess what? We snatched two fat quarter bundles from Quilt Market to give away! To enter, let us know which new Moda Fabrics collection is your favorite in the comments section of the post. We will pick two lucky winners randomly on December 15, 2014.
And the winners are…

Thank you so much for joining us and happy quilting everyone!

  1. Both are gorgeous! Have ideas for both but Gardenvale would be my first! Thank you for the opportunity!

  2. I love a,bleside!!! Love everything brenda riddle has created! Glad to see her back designing fabrics!

  3. I'd love either one but Gardenvale is so different from anything in my stash it would be exciting to use in a scrappy quilt. Sewmissmouse at Yahoo dot ca

  4. I love that so talented quilter as Jen Kingwell become a fabric designer. Her first collection is just lovely.

And my favorite Moda fabric collection is Figures by Zen Chic.

  5. How exactly am I supposed to pick a favorite, I'm not even sure there's a Moda collection that's NOT on my favorite list! Gardenvale is right up my alley thought. there's something about bold colors and prints with a splash of black and white that just makes me so quilt-happy!

  6. I love the Ambleside best because of the vintage look and softness of the florals. Gardenvale is beautiful, too, but I like Ambleside best. Both would look beautiful sewn up in a quilt. Thank you for the chance to win something!

  7. They are both so lovely though I gravitate towards Ambleside.
Thanks so much for the chance to win some fabric!

  8. I adore Ambleside! My favorite Moda collection is Crazy for Red but I do have that one already and need a bundle with a softer hue. My niece is having a baby in June and this bundle would make the new bundle of joy the perfect quilt! 🙂

  9. They are both beautiful new collections from some very talented designers. If I had to chose, I guess I would choose Ambleside. Another relatively new collection I love is Beach House.

  10. Ambleside collection is so soft and vintage feeling. Made me feel like I was sitting on a porch with a cool spring breeze reading a book like when I was a child.

  11. I just finished Jen Kingwell's Bring Me Flowers BOM. I LOVE her modern twist on traditional designs and the best thing ever would be to win Gardenvale fabric!

  12. While Jen Kingwell's patterns have made me rethink quilt layout "rules", Ambleside speaks to my love of pretty, pretty, pretty fabric. Ambleside, it is!

  13. Thank you for the giveaway! Both fabric lines are beautiful. I would probably choose Gardenvale. I need some bright colors in my stash.

  14. Oh, most definitely Ambleside. All my quilts are vintage inspired and this fabric line is just perfect.

  15. Love them both! Gardenvale is terrific, love the colors. I am planning to make a double wedding ring quilt and I think Ambleside is exactly the fabric I have been looking for.

  16. Ambleside is definitely my favorite- I love soft beautiful florals! I love Brenda Ruddles other fabric lines too! Thanks for the great giveaway! cherisetoweratgmaildotcom

  17. Ambleside is my favourite. As we are in the throes of winter it reminds me spring is getting closer each day. Thanks for sharing.

  18. There are sooooooo many wonderful new fabrics on the horizon! Edyta Sitar is one of my favorite designers — I don't think she has ever done something I didn't love. So my favorite (one of many) is Sticks and Stones.

  19. Both bundles are beautiful! But I think I'd have to go with Gardenvale! I love the quirky, fun, and bright prints and I'd be so happy to support a new designer from down under!

  20. As a Moda junkie, there are so many lines I am looking forward to! But I am really waiting for Daysail!

  21. Hard choice….Ambleside is my first choice! Thank you for the chance to win this pretty fabric!
    DiAnn

  22. I like both of these but Gardenvale with white would make a wonderful quilt! Thank you for the chance to win either. jlblvn at gmail dot com

  23. You know '25th Pine' still comes out on top of all the delicious fabrics available by Moda – maybe because I feel so Christmasy!!

  24. Ambleside makes me have spring fever… And we haven't even really had winter yet! What's a girl to do?! I'm also swooning over daysail!

  25. I love love love Gardenvale!!! Thanks so much for the chance to win 🙂

  26. I love, love, love the Gardenvale collection. What a fun combination of prints and colors. I could have great fun coming up with ways to use them. Soooo cute.

  27. I am really liking Crazy for Red by Minick & Simpson for Moda. Red isn't usually my color but I really like this, guess I am maturing in the fabric color department. Thank you for the giveaway.

  28. Absolutely LOVE them both. I have admired Jen's Green Beans and Sweet Tea quilt for ages so if I was lucky enough to get to choose I would pick Gardenvale but honestly who cares, they are both so gorgeous. Thanks for the give away. Karen

  29. I love both of them, but since winter here is so gloomy, I'm drawn to the bright colors of Gardenvale! Thanks for the chance to win.

  30. As much as I love Jen Kingwell's quilt patterns I just adore those soft pretty florals in the Ambleside collection. Thanks for the chance!!

  31. The closer I look at Gardenvale, the better I like it. The prints are so fun and different. It'll be fun to watch both designers and see what they create. Thanks.

  32. Gardenville would be my first pick. Wow. Thanks for the great giveaway and chance to win. I hope I'm lucky. Thanks again. (debbie at wowilikethat dot com)

  33. I really like the Gardenvale – the bright scrappy colors really appeal to me – so fun and interesting to look at…
Thanks for the chance to win such a cool bundle of fabrics.
    Regards,
    Anna

  34. I love all the bright colours of Gardenvale. The fabric would be perfect for some Lori Holt quilty fun!!

  35. They are both wonderful, but Brenda Riddles "Ambleside" is the one that really 'speaks to me'… well, more like shouts to me. I really love the gentle florals as soft colors in this collection. Thanks so much for a chance in this giveaway. Good luck to everyone!!!

  36. I think that Ambleside is beautiful. I also am partial to the bright summer colors in Daysail.

    Joanne

  37. I really like the new Gardenvale and having been wanting to try a Jen Kingwell pattern for a while now, I think a fabric bundle would give me the push I need.

  38. Gardenvale for me. It is stunning and oh so cheery. Lots of selections to choose and blend together in your favorite project..

  39. Gardenvale is so stimulating. Really exciting mix of colors. The other collection is beautiful too but I think Gardenvale makes me ready for spring. Thanks- K-

  40. I'd have to say that I like the bright colors of the Gardenvale a little bit better. It was a hard choice though because both new fabric lines are very nice.

  41. Cannot decide!!!! As an Australian, I am so pleased to see Jen Kingwell's fabric and have made many of her beautiful quilt designs. But Ambleside is so gorgeous!! I would be very happy with either. 🙂

  42. Well, that was fun! Totally enjoyed looking at the Moda collections. Crazy for Red, Lakeside Gathering and Snow Bird appeal to me…….. Santa Baby, adding to my list 🙂

  43. I love the colors in Block Party…but ohhhhh it was so hard to pick! Thanks for the chance to win! calgaryquiltingmomma.blogspot.com

  44. Pick a favorite? Now that is hard. I can see myself using either bundle…although I was just looking at Jen's patterns yesterday so I guess I will go with hers! Although…..

  45. Pick a favorite? Hard to do since I reallylike both of them. I was just looking at Jen's patterns so I am going with Gardenvale today…

  46. They are both lovely and I predict we'll be seeing more lovely designs in the year to come. I love the bright color of Gardenvale but also love the vintage cozy soft colors of Ambleside.

  47. LOVE BOTH!! … really do …
Gardenvale would make me think plan and venture outside my safe creative side …:) thanks

  48. The gardenvale just jumps out at me! Maybe because I have two new granddaughters who will need "big girl bed" quilts in the next year or so! Both are very nice, though!

  49. I adore Brenda's Ambleside…it's a gorgeous area of England, and the home of an early 20thC educator who had a great influence on my education philosophy. Brenda made all that even more lovely in my mind!

  50. The collection I like most is Gardenvale because I love the variety. Combining many different colors and fabric designs is what keeps quilting fun for me.

  51. I'm such a sucker for Christmas prints – love the Solstice line! Thanks for the chance to win! jvermunt(at)shaw(dot)ca

  52. They are both gorgeous. However I have to go with Gardenvale and support my fellow Ozzie. Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie, Oy, Oy, Oy!!! Rach C

  53. Of the Moda fabric, Hello Fall always brings a smile to my face because it reminds me of my best friend. Of the two in the post, Ambleside is so soft and the nostalgia of it is comforting.

  54. I just had to play "Eenie, meenie, minie…" to come up with Gardenville. I love them both! However, I ALWAYS look for MODA fabric before any other, their quality and designers surpass many other companies

  55. I love the soft pretty colors in the ambleside line, but my fave new moda line is mistletoe. As a side note, I love your #haveyourselfaquiltylittlechristmas quilt. Thanks for the chance to win.
