We’re pleased to introduce the Freedom Bound Block of the Month Quilt – a quilt as beautiful as the story is inspiring.
The year is 1859. The country is in turmoil. Tempers on both sides are heating up, quickly precipitating the American Civil War. In Claiborne County, Mississippi, a very unusual family is preparing for a trip to freedom. This is the story of Hannah Cummings Cotton, her plantation life, her children, and her journey to Ohio, leaving the chains of slavery behind.
The Freedom Bound Block of the Month, designed by Denice Lipscomb of Common Threads Quilting, will begin in September and run for 12 months. Each month, along with the pattern, you will receive a piece of Hannah’s story, including historical information from the period. The program includes the pattern and fabric for your quilt top and binding. The finished quilt measures 97″ x 97″. We also have a backing set to complete this gorgeous quilt, available here.
Freedom Bound is both an important story, and an ongoing quilting adventure that will yield a beautiful quilt. Take this opportunity to learn about a brave, determined woman, and to create an heirloom quilt that will be cherished for generations. Sign up for Freedom Bound Block of the Month today!
