Home Comforts by Brenda Riddle

Our friend Brenda Riddle returns to share about her new book and pattern…if you haven’t discovered it yet, don’t pass up this chance! It is sure to bring much comfort and warmth to your home.

I am so happy for the chance to share a little bit about our new designs that were just introduced & released at last week’s Spring Market in Portland, Oregon.

I had so much fun with these new designs! The first group of quilts are included in our new book, Home Comforts. The theme & feeling of this book is to bring us back to thinking of home. . . whether it’s the home we grew up in that holds our childhood memories, or the home we strive to make today. . . the word ‘home’ carries with it so many memories. Memories that remind us of childhood times, or of the memories that are to come. . . the memories that bring us back to home are those that also can bring such comfort. Home Comforts is a return to some of those memories. . . from childhood tea parties to picnics in the backyard with a hint of a soft breeze. . . those memories that warm our hearts. My hope is that these projects will help you celebrate all the comforts of home. . . the ones in your memory. . . & the ones you will make for your home & family & friends.

Our second release is a wonderful appliqué quilt, Winter Memories. I had a ball making this quilt – using the new 3 Sisters winter fabric line from Moda, Peace on Earth. (And I know that Fat Quarter Shop has the entire line in!). This quilt is a little different as it is not just for Christmas. . . but for all winter long! We used mostly the beautiful robin’s egg blue, brown, tan & creams – but I can also see this quilt made with traditional red, greens, plaids. . . !

I hope you enjoy our new designs . . . because we certainly had such fun creating them for you!

  1. This book is just beautiful! My only problem with Brenda’s books is that I want to make every single quilt in the book! I’m excited to get my hands on this one. Love the winter quilt too- gorgeous!
