Full Bloom by Bari J. Ackerman

Full Bloom is Bari J. Ackerman’s debut line with Windham Fabrics. It is a unique take on the floral theme, using vibrant and cool colors to create a one-of-a-kind collection. Full Bloom has a painterly quality to it, making each piece of fabric a work of art.

Well, hello there. It’s such an honor to be writing to you from the Fat Quarter Shop blog.

I’m Bari Ackerman, the designer behind Bari J. Some of you may know me from my handbags and accessories, which were the first products I created for my business. I have long wanted to create my own line of fabrics and this spring that wish came true.

Full Bloom is my debut line for Windham fabrics. This group of fabrics is based on perennial flowers and has a touch of whimsy with sweet birds on pussy willow branches and tea sets surrounded by cherry blossoms.

One of the most important things for me when I design is that any piece can be mixed and matched. So, in Full Bloom, you’ll see colors and variations of those colors popping up throughout.

The free downloadable quilt that I designed for your use, Garden Tea Party, mixes almost every piece in the line and features cut motifs collaged on for a border rather than traditional binding. You’ll find full directions for this technique in the pattern. And it’s really easy and fun!

Other free patterns including an apron, French seamed pillowcases and pin cushion are available on my blog, and I’m very excited about a group of patterns that I am currently developing and hope to have available this fall.

I can’t wait to see what you create with Full Bloom, and I hope you’ll be fearlessly mixing and matching to your heart’s content.
