Late Bloomer Quilts is located in the dining room, living room and laundry room of my Northern California home. When I’m sitting at my sewing machine or my laptop, I can see my front door, which is handy so I can keep track of the comings and goings of a scary number of teenage males—some live here, some just seem to live here. And if that’s not enough chaos, throw in 2 dogs, a 17 pound cat, and 4 guinea pigs. Oh, and a husband. I’ve got one of those, too!
Like many quilters, I find new fabric to be a major inspiration! My “R is for Rose” pattern came about when I saw this delicious border print by Paris Bebe Fabrics. Another couple of Paris Bebe fabrics were the inspiration behind “Vintage Christmas”.
It was great fun designing “Flight of Fancy”, my first Block of the Month. I had the opportunity to play with LakeHouse Dry Good’s “La Belle Rose” collection and when I saw the black floral I immediately thought of crows!
I fell in love with the upcoming LakeHouse line called “Cherry Baby”—and designed a very simple pieced quilt (and appliquéd picture) called “Baby at Home” that would show off those bright, pretty prints. Presley the cat has decided to claim that quilt as his own.
Right now I’m busy working on new designs for spring…sneak peeks periodically show up on my blog, the-latebloomer.blogspot.com!
