We are bringing a little splendor to your day. Bari J‘s newest collection with Art Gallery Fabrics has just arrived and is full of classic beauty. Splendor 1920 will take you back in time, dress you up and make you feel elegant. Bari is here today to tell you a bit more about the collection and to show you photos of the decadent projects from Fall Quilt Market.
Q: What inspired this collection?
A:This collection was inspired by the time period just following World War I in Europe. The clothing and accessories, decor, and scenery in the hit show Downtown Abbey started the process of design. You’ll find prints that include peacock feathers, large and small print florals, geometrics, a print inspired by the Art Nouveau movement (the hummingbird print) and a cross stitch piece.
Q: What is your favorite project using this collection?
A:The ruffle duvet cover I made for my quilt market booth. I’ll be doing a tutorial for it later this month. I’m also crazy about all the things you can do with the cross stitch print. It is printed to the width of the fabric with three varying width borders and then a mixed print filling the rest of the width. I cut the three borders to make a perfectly sized bed skirt. I also used it for quilt borders, and I cut the borders out to put in pillows and then used the rest of the print surrounding it. It’s also great for kids clothes. I just love it.
Q:What do you get nostalgic over?
Q:What is your favorite TV show of all time?
Q:What’s the strangest compliment you’ve ever received?
A:Someone once told me they appreciated my ‘tenacity’ … I think that might be a backhanded compliment.
A last little splendid treat, we had the pleasure of chatting with Bari at Fall Quilt Market. Here is a little video of her talking about her collection and showing us projects. See her gorgeous booth for yourself!
