Designer Select: Blackbird Designs

The Fat Quarter Shop with Barb Adams and Alma Allen of Blackbird Designs have teamed up to present you with a Fat Quarter Shop Exclusive! Blackbird Designs has specially selected 12 prints from their Blueberry Crumb Cake collection along with 3 coordinating Bella Solids for this special bundle you will only find at the Fat Quarter Shop.

Q: What inspired you to pick the colors and designs in your Designer Select Fat Quarter Bundle?
A:In planning our fabric line, Barb and I were discussing the palette. I was tired of picking the usual colors and asked Barb what she thought about a two or three colorway. She loved the idea so we began to think of the colors we loved to use.

Blue and cream shades in vintage two color quilts always call to us. They look clean, crisp and graphic on a bed. They feel like “home.” Warm brown tones seemed to be the perfect complement to the blue shades.

For color inspiration we looked at vintage pieces of fabric. These rag balls give an idea of what inspired our newest line Blueberry Crumb Cake.

We didn’t want all of the blue prints to be one shade of blue. Lighter ones were added to the collection too.

We love this line! It’s become one of our favorites. Weekend, our newest quilting book, is packed with great ideas highlighting our fabric.

*2 Truths and a Lie*
1. I have only been to one country fair.
2. Barb and I design cross stitch patterns also, and that’s why we try to include a sampler print in our fabric lines.
3. Barb and I hate chocolate!

One of the 3 statements is false. Comment on this post telling me which statement you think is false. Answer correctly and you have a chance to win Blackbird Designs’s Designer Select Fat Quarter Bundle!

You have exactly one week from the post date.
Good Luck!

  1. the "untruth" would be … oh dear, who hates chocolate? but maybe you do? ok, i'm going with hating chocolate is false.. it's gotta be false.. come one chocolate!!

  2. Has to be #3! We were just talking about this at work, when there were TWO chocolate cakes for the birthday celebration and NOTHING else! 🙂

    Sandy A

  3. Well I know that some people don't like chocolate, but to have 2 people who are business partners and who both hate it…that just seems like it can't be true!

    So I'll guess it's number 3.

  4. Feeling very brain dead and I so wanna get this one right. Just deleted my last incorrect post – I'm so nervous! 😛
Has to be #3 – just has to.
(Note to self: pleeeeeeeeeease be right!)

  5. I'll guess #3 too— just finished off a bag of Peanut M&M's– so maybe that's influencing my thought process?… 🙂

  6. I've had my eye on Blueberry Crumb Cake for months now, waiting for it to come out – I LOVE IT!!!

Which one is the lie? I know number one is true, I'm pretty sure number two is true, so that leaves number three as the "un-truth".

Thanks for a great giveaway!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!!

  7. I know you design cross stitch because I've seen those designs, and it's hard to believe you don't like chocolate so I'm guessing number 1.

  8. I know there are people out there… somewhere… who hate chocolate, but I'm going out on a limb to see that y'all aren't counted among those numbers. Number 3 is false!

  9. It's number 3. Who hates chocolate!!

  10. My first guess was #3 as the false statement. I did a bit of research on one of my favorite blogs – Blackbird Designs – and I am sticking with #3 being false.

Blueberry Crumb Cake is my "to die for" favorite new fabric. Hopefully Santa is reading this!

  11. Since I have only been to the fair twice I think one is completely plausible. So I am going with number one.

I sure hope I win! Thank you for the chance!

  12. #3 is false. One person maybe doesn't like chocolate, but no way that both of you hate it. I keep thinking of my grandmother's berry cobbler when I look at your fabric. Can't wait to try it out!

  13. #3 is the lie! how two people together could both hate chocolate is incomprehensible.. i all my considerable years, i have never met one person who hated it.

  14. Wow, though I don't 'hate' chocolate,I really don't care much for chocolate candy. Cakes, brownies, etc. are a different story. So, I know it's possible that they 'hate' chocolate but I just don't think so. I'm going with # 3 as the lie. One of them might hate chocolate but I don't think both of them do. Thanks so much for a chance. I love this beautiful fabric collection. Hugs…

  15. Happy Holidays I love blueberry crumb…just beautiful. I am going to say #1 the fair. I have only been to one myself and so I say that can be it. And since I really love the fabric I hope that makes me in the running……take care

  21. There are two people in my family who hate chocolate so that could be true but I think that two friends who hate chocolate is a bit of a stretch so I am going with #3 being the lie.

  22. Yo estoy esperando recibir mis telas de esta colección.
Me sumaré a la mayoría y contesto que la falsa es la 3.

  30. I think the incorrect one is not liking chocolate. Maybe one may not like choc–but two? This is one of the prettiest 2011 lines released! Oh, I would so love to win a fat quarter bundle! This would be better than picking blueberries!

  31. I believe that #3 is false. Chocolate is the best, besides this beautiful fabric that is. Thanks for a chance to win some.
