Announcing the Designer Mystery Quilt Festival!

Hello, Quilters! Today we’re taking a walk back in time… Will you join us?

It was 2008 (Remember what you were doing in 2008?). Kimberly was falling in love with mystery quilts (can you blame her?). She wanted to start her own mystery quilt block of the month. She asked some wonderful quilt designers to design blocks for it…. And they said Yes! The rest, as they say, is history! And if you have ever been a member of the Designer Mystery Block of the Month then you, dear quilter, are part of that history, too.

Today, as our Designer Mystery Block of the Month Club approaches its 14th year, we’re taking a look back at all the Designer Mystery quilts over the years, and we’re inviting you to join us for this Designer Mystery Quilt Festival!

If you’ve ever made a Designer Mystery Quilt from 2008 until now, we want to see it! From April 29 – May 6 we invite you to join us in sharing a photo of your quilt or quilts to celebrate.

These quilts bring back memories! When Designer Mystery got started, Kimberly and Kevin were growing Fat Quarter Shop alongside their family. Their first child Emma was born in 2007 and was raised running through the halls of Fat Quarter Shop, watching her parents work.

If you ever needed a reason to finish a quilt or snap a photo of it, this is it! From now through April 29 you have time to finish and photo your Designer Mystery quilt for a moment in the spotlight.

How to Participate

• From April 29 – May 6 we invite you to share your quilts on Instagram with the hashtag #FQSQuiltFest and #DesignerMysteryBOM
• If you have quilt details, add those in your post! We’d love to know the year of the club, when you sewed it and even (if you can remember) what you were doing at that time!
• Tag @fatquartershop so we can see and share your post!
• In April, share the image below to help spread the word!

Here’s a sneak peek of some of the quilts Kimberly has sewn. If you haven’t seen some of the completed quilts we certainly don’t want to ruin the ‘mystery’ for you. Not yet, anyway! We’ll be back on Thursday, April 29, to show you the finished Designer Mystery Quilts from over the years, and more importantly, we want to see yours, too!

About This Year’s Designer Mystery Block of the Month

If you’ve never heard of this club before, the Designer Mystery quilt is 12 themed blocks by 12 amazing designers that finish at 12” square. Over the years, it’s been fun to see how creatively we can set these 12 blocks so you get a completely unique quilt every single time. Designer Mystery is exclusive to Fat Quarter Shop and you won’t find it anywhere else.

Join Fat Quarter Shop for its 14th annual Designer Mystery Block of the Month Club! Each quilt block finishes at 12″ square and features the delicate and sophisticated Strawberries & Rhubarb fabric collection by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics. This club is perfect for beginners to experienced quilters. This year’s quilt finishes at a generous 66.5″ x 84.5″. The Designer Mystery club runs from June 2021 through May 2022.
