Deck-ade the Halls: Santa’s Stockings

Happy Monday, quilters! We are delighted to bring you the latest installment of the Deck-ade the Halls Quilt Along! No Christmas is complete without a mantle dressed with stockings, filled with little gifts and treats. So today we are making Santa’s Stockings!

For our stocking blocks, we wanted to take the iconic stocking and add our Fat Quarter Shop pizazz. Two rows of chevron decorate each stocking and we added a bold, focal print to the cuff. Our two stockings are made with complimentary colors, red and green, but we are excited to see what colors you choose to use!

You can find all the patterns for this fun novelty Christmas quilt in our Peppermint Lane Block of the Month Book. We filmed another instructional video to show you the ins and outs of the Santa’s Stocking blocks. Kimberly will walk you through the essential elements of the blocks, creating flying geese blocks, corner square triangles and sewing an accurate 1/4 seam. After viewing the video, the Santa’s Stockings blocks will be a breeze!

Join in the Deck-ade the Halls quilt along and start sewing with us! You can find all the patterns for this fun novelty Christmas quilt in our Peppermint Lane Block of the Month Book.  If you are smitten with our version in Aspen Frost (why wouldn’t you be!), you can purchase a kit in our shop, but we welcome you to sew with whatever tickles your fancy! Each block is accompanied by an instructional video to give you tips and tricks for sewing the blocks accurately. And once you complete your blocks, be sure to upload them to Flickr!

We hope you enjoy Santa’s Stockings! Come back in two weeks for gift, the Season of Giving blocks. Happy sewing!

  1. I am having trouble print page 4 of the stocking pattern. When I first tried to print, only printed page 5 and then a blank page. I tried printed each page separately, and got all but page 4 – I only get a blank page. Can you check to see if there is a problem with the pattern. Thanks

  2. Lois, We have not found anything wrong with the file. Please email chelsey[at]fatquartershop[dot]com if you continue to have trouble, we can try to over email!

  3. I am really enjoying sewing this quilt, and look forward to every new pattern release. The Santa Stockings look great. The chevrons really light up my dark Christmas fabrics.
