Did you know Kimberly’s original love of crafts come from learning to crochet when she was six? So when Lori Holt designed her Chunky Crochet Thread it was a match made in heaven.
Kimberly searched for the perfect blanket and decided to make the Nursery Blanket Project from the Granny Squares Home Book. Both Kimberly and Lori took their own take on this adorable crochet project. Kimberly made hers using the Cloud Chunky Crochet Thread for the in-between short rows while Lori used all different colors, just like in the book!

What do you need?
- 3 skeins each of the Aqua, Beehive, Denim, Green, Red, Peony, and Nutmeg Chunky Crochet Thread
- 6 skeins of Cloud Chunky Crochet Thread
- Size C crochet hook
- Granny Squares Home Book
Kimberly’s blanket is currently 51” but is still sewing so she might need more skeins of it to make it larger!

I learned how to knit when I was 3. My mother was laid up and thats how she entertained me and my brother. Im left handed and learned how to crochet when i was 8. Took a crochet book and put it in a mirror and figured it out. Took my first sewing lessons at 8 years old. For some reason I love crafts. But also am a perfectionist and gotten to be a fabric and yarn snob… So, I appreciate hearing how people have learned their crafts..

Did you use the Chunky Thread – 50 gram, 140 yards, 128 meters skein to make the blanket. I got my order in that I placed from the link you gave us and the yarn sure seems thin.

Is there a YouTube video on the chunky thread project? I purchased the book and have tried with the help of two crochet veterans and we can’t get the pattern to work out. I would love to see how the white rows (Kimberly’s Version) are done – that’s where I go wrong.
