Castle Courtyard Pattern by It’s Sew Emma

Hey guys! It’s Jocelyn, and I’m here to introduce to you our newest It’s Sew Emma pattern, Castle Courtyard. I was watching a quilt video and caught a glimpse of a folded, antique looking quilt in the background. All I could see was a star block quilt, with stars centered between sixteen-patch (or maybe even twenty-five patch) blocks, but I loved it! I knew that the new Downton Abbey fabrics would be a great match for the pattern.
We created two colorways for this Castle Courtyard pattern with the Jewel Tones and the Pastel Castle.

  1. Initially, I was definitely on the jewel tone side. I purchased the Ladies of Downton Abbey quilt kit from the first DA collection of fabrics so have decided to go "downstairs" for this quilt.

  2. Rosemary b here:
The purple and the blue. That is beautiful. The other one is sweet and muted. Very pretty, but the darker, wow. It is a beauty

  3. I just ordered the pattern and fabric and I really like both color ways. I modified the color way on the jewel tone, and removed the darkest fabrics and substituted more of the lighter blues and mauves. I like the light one also, but prefer whites and grays to the creams ans browns.
    Love the pattern

  4. I would like to have them both! I love the jewel tones and it really grabs your attention. The pastel would be very pretty in a girls room or a baby quilt or a room with lots of wicker.

  5. The pastel tones do it for me with this quilt, which has surprised me as I usually go for brighter fabrics. Those pastels with this pattern just look so serene and ladylike; very Downtown Abbey.

  6. They are both SO beautiful and it took me a bit to decide, but I think I have to go with the Jewel Tone!!! Love the colors!
