October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Fat Quarter Shop will donate 25% of proceeds from sales of pink Stash ‘n Stores during the month of October to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for their work providing early detection, education, and support services.

Make an Impact with Fat Quarter Shop

You can make an impact this month by purchasing a pink Stash ‘n Store by It’s Sew Emma. These organizers make perfect gifts for sewists and stitchers alike if you’d like to pick up one or two for yourself and a friend this October! With the funds we raise, we can help The National Breast Cancer Foundation provide support services to women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, so let’s make an impact!

Early detection is one of the most important strategies to prevent deaths from breast cancer. Monthly breast self-exams and regular clinical breast exams and regularly scheduled mammograms are key. According to the American Cancer Society, when breast cancer is detected early, the 5-year relative survival rate is 99%. Share with a friend and remind her that October is a good time to schedule routine breast cancer screenings!

This charity is all about helping women now by providing free mammograms and diagnostic services for women in need, patient navigation services, patient support groups and a wide range of educational resources and events. Raise Awareness with Stitch Pink Quilt Along

To help spread awareness and bring our community together, Moda Fabrics is offering the FREE Stitch Pink 2020 Quilt Along and we have everything you need to get started!

The Stitch Pink 2020 Quilt Along is in support of Moda’s virtual awareness-raising event which will last throughout October. The quilt along begins October 1 on Moda’s blog where they will release a new block pattern each day until October 31! The quilt is sewn up in Moda Grunge Basics finishing at 64″ x 76″ for the quilt top and binding. A portion of Moda’s proceeds from the Stitch Pink Grunge collection will go to the National Breast Cancer Organization.  Get all the details, fabric requirements, and see which tools will come in handy on Moda’s blog.

We’ll be sewing along with Moda using the Stitch Pink October 2020 Quilt Kit that includes more than 10 yards of Grunge Basics for the piecing and the background. We also have the matching Backing Set for a perfectly pink quilt that really pops with color!
