Book of the Month: With Fabric and Thread

It’s that time again, Book of the Month time at Fat Quarter Shop!
For the month of July we are featuring Joanna Figueroa’s With Fabric and Thread Book.  Joanna of Fig Tree & Co. is here today to take us on a little journey for all of you sewing and quilting enthusiasts.

And remember, the Book of the Month is 20% OFF all month long!

Hi Jolly Jabberers!

I’m so excited to be back with you today to talk about my new book, With Fabric & Thread! This has been a wonderful journey and challenge for me, as I got to combine my passion of quilting and sewing in one spiral-bound treasure! My hope for you is that you are inspired to make all of the projects in my book, whether you come from a quilting or sewing background. And you WILL be able to make them all!

To start it off, I have included a very in-depth introduction to talk about the basics of quilting and sewing. From tools to techniques, it is all covered. In the sewing basics, I’ve even mentioned my must-have hemostats (yes, you read that right!).

The 20+ projects include practical items you will use in your home – lunch sacks, floor mats, aprons, pillows and more, in addition to several beautiful quilts. I have even included a section for each project that shows both sewing and quilting construction, so you can choose the method you prefer!

A few of my favorites from the book include my vintage-inspired Dear Betty Apron (child and adult sizes included) and Summer Soiree Patchwork quilt.

I can’t resist the flirty little skirt on the apron, can you?

For my Summer Soiree Patchwork quilt, which came to Market with me, I got to play with my color palette! I love how well the bright, contemporary colors work with my Fig Tree colors. More than anything I wanted to show that it is possible to mix the two! Oh, but then there’s also the All Dressed Up Pillow and Audrey Tote and Cherry Blossom Quilt and Strawberries and Cream Table Runner… well, you see my dilemma!

I hope you fall in love with With Fabric & Thread. I am so looking forward to seeing how you stretch your abilities in sewing and quilting with these projects! Thanks to Kimberly for inviting me talk to you about my book!

  2. It is unusual for me to love every project in a quilting or sewing book. I loved your post and EVERY project shown. I must get me one of these soon. Beautiful work. Thank you for the preview.

  3. I've just put this book on my wishlist. I love Joanna's designs and color schemes. Her blog is a real treat for the eyes. Thanks for featuring this talented lady, and giving us a peek into her book!

  4. I got this book a few weeks ago, and let me tell you I am not disappointed at all. I'm by no means a beginning sewer, but we can all use some reviews and have a chance to see another way of doing things. This is going to be a great resource this summer as I teach my granddaughters to sew!
