Hi Jabberettes! I love that we keep meeting like this! We are so excited about the debut of our newest book for Martingale and that the Fat Quarter Shop has made us their Book of the Month!
We like easy quilts and this book has 12 of them. Mary and I have been collecting and designing quick and easy quilts for many years. We used to design them when we owned our quilt store and have continued the tradition when we started designing fabrics for Moda in 2004. We love giving our customers quick and easy ideas for using fabrics.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy looking at a show stopper hanging in a quilt show as much as you do. BUT I have to admit, when piecing I have a very short attention span. I usually can’t wait to finish what I’ve just started so that I can get onto the next new quilt! How many of you are like me? Mary has more patience than me and likes a challenge now and then. She has a few life long projects.
Many of the quilts in this book are perfect for showcasing those special fabrics that you don’t want to cut up into small pieces. Let the fabrics do the work!
They are also perfect for ‘instant gratification,” which means they are perfect for a fast quilt or gift. Besides appealing to the more seasoned (old) quilters like me, fast projects appeal to beginners! There is nothing like the feeling of starting an easy project and finishing it quickly. It gives you more time to get started on that next quilt!
Since the quilts in this book go together quickly they are also are perfect for quilt retreats, weekend gift projects, and charity quilts. Many of them also use pre cuts! Discover skill building projects like quilts 1, 2 and 3. They feature the simplest of squares and strips. These 3 are super simple and are meant for anyone to conquer.
Then move onto quilts 4, 5 and 6. They feature a stitch and flip technique along with sewing strips sets and simple blocks together.
You’ll find half square triangles made into Pinwheel blocks, another strip set quilt and a Rail Fence block featured in quilts 7, 8 and 9.
Finally, Quilts 10, 11 and 12 include a layout that requires sashing along with a stitch and flip within a block.
The quilt patterns in this book were originally sold individually. They’ve been so loved that we decided to publish them together in a book. Now you can have the complete collection in one place!
Simple quilts are just as beautiful as the ones that take forever to make! Hope you like the new book and that it inspires you to be creative with fabrics! And don’t forget, you can pick up Simple Quilts at Fat Quarter Shop for 20% off all month long!
Thanks!

Love these beautiful quilts! And being a beginner, the idea of Simple sounds very nice too! 🙂
Ever since they first talked about this book it has been on my wish list. I hope Santa brings it to me this year.
