Blogger’s Choice: Thelma Childers

Thelma Childers, the talented blogger behind the blog Cupcakes n Daisies has built a Blogger’s Choice Fat Quarter Bundle and it is a red lover’s dream. Thelma chose 12 prints and 3 coordinating solids from our shop to create a red and cream masterpiece. Thelma is here to tell you a bit more about her blogger approved bundle, and don’t forget to enter for a chance to win one for yourself!

Q: What will you be making with your Blogger’s Choice Fat Quarter Bundle?
A:I’ve just finished making “Tickled Red” from the pattern Tickle by Miss Rosie’s Quilt Company. I used a bit of every piece of fabric in the bundle to make the top that finishes around 26 inches square. I wanted something to put on my table for Valentine’s Day. I’m so happy that I’ll have this top quilted and ready for next year.

I also have a little side project going on in my sewing room when I want a break, I’m piecing little 3 inch red churn dash blocks. I’ve added 18 more to my finished stack from the reds in the bundle. I still have plenty of fabric remaining to add to some future projects. I’ve heard from one quilter who plans to use the bundle in Cinnamon Stars by Planted Seed Designs and another going with Debonaire by It’s Sew Emma. I sure hope I get to see some finishes by other quilters who used the bundle.

Q: What quilt project are you currently working on?
A:Right now I have a good start on Three Barns by Miss Rosie’s Quilt Company using Chateau Rouge by French General. I love the yellows in that line with the reds and grays. Next up will be Jubilee Celebration by Paula Barnes for Red Crinoline Quilts using some civil war reproduction fabric in my stash. I’m counting the days until Happy Go Lucky is released by Bonnie and Camille for Moda. I haven’t decided on my pattern but I plan to welcome Spring while playing with that fabric.

1. jelly roll or layer cake

  8. Layer Cake
    Planned
    Prints

I figure I have a 50/50 chance of getting each right so I may as well have a go, after all I love the colours in this bundle.
Thanks for the chance and the interesting interview.

  9. I will say Layer cake, Planned and Prints because that is what I would like. I love, love, love the color red and hope to and this to my new collection of fabric! Thank you for such a lovely giveaway…

  12. What a nice piece to help you look forward to next Valentine's Day! My guesses are: Jelly Roll, Scrappy, Prints. Thanks for the opportunity to play.

  13. I'm guessing jelly roll, scrappy, prints. Thanks for the chance to win, love these fabrics.

  14. Oh my gosh! Most everyone thinks the same. I guess I will go with what seems to be the majority~layer cake, planned, prints.

  15. I think Thelma would go with layer, planned and prints. A lot of her projects look scrappy but are really planned scrappy – LoL. Judy C in NC

  16. Layer cake, planned, prints. I am a little unsure about the 1st choice, but I don't recall Thelma using a JR for a quilt, but I do know she has used a Layer Cake so I hope I am right on that one. Planned definitely & prints for sure (although I am sure she will make an entire quilt out of solid soon).

  17. Thelma will use a layer cake, scrappy, print.
(though the truth be known, Thelma will definitely plan out her scrappy red look) LOL.
Nice fabrics, and wonderful to have the chance to win some.

  18. I went to purchase the Red bundle as 'I gotta have it' only to find all of the bundles were gone…. Talk about a real downer….! However, Thelma did mention one is left? Please can you pretty please pick me? Thanks!!!!

  19. Layer cake, scrappy, print. That Thelma sure can forge ahead and create great quilts. Love her selection of reds. Stephani in N. TX (Tomazec@aol.com)

  20. Layer, planned, prints are my choices. I read and enjoy Thelma's Cupcake and Daisies blog often. Red is definitely her color of choice.

  21. This is the perfect red for a ninepatch I want to make in honor of my Mom. She loved red, red couch, red car, red/white flannel shirts, she loved it! And ninepatch was her favorite block besides Sunbonnet Sue, so this would be a fun, healing quilt. Thanks for the chance to win the bundle. I follow Thelma's blog and love it. She's got me organizing! Laura ninepatch@hotmail.com

  22. I resisted buying this bundle until I knew what I would do with it…now the bundles are gone and I must win this! I say:
    Layer cake
    Planned
    Prints
    Thanks so much!
