BLOG REMIX 2 - FREE Beginner Friendly Pillow Pattern

We’re back for another season of blog remixes! We saw the great response to the remixed projects from last year and are continuing them for another year! The blog remixes will be throwing it back to one of our tutorials with new fabrics, notions, and tips and tricks to inspire you to make your next project. Whether you’ve seen this project before or it’s your first time, there’s a remix project for everyone. The fourth remix of our second season of blog remixes is the Picnic Time Pillow we did last year when we went to Utah to film with Riley Blake! These pillows match perfectly with the Picnic Time Quilt (FREE Pattern) and you’ll be using the quilt pattern to make the pillow!

Fabric Requirements

FREE Picnic Time Quilt Pattern (you’ll just need to make one block)
Soft & Stable
Foreground Fabric (we used Fat Quarters from Hello, Lovely by Amanda Herring)
Background Fabric (we used Swiss Dots for Riley Blake)
Fabric for the back of your pillow

We even had some awesome quilty friends make their version of the Picnic Time Pillows and different versions of the Picnic Time Quilt! We love seeing the different fabrics they made their Picnic Time Pillow Projects in and the tips they have to share.

Jan of Cocoa Quilts (@cocoaquilts) made her Picnic Time Pillow using Basic Mixologie by Moda Fabrics. She says, “I loved the block so much I chose it for my block as March queen in a bee group.”

Quilty Staffer Nancy made her Picnic Time Table Topper using Butterfly Haven by Danhui Nai for Wilmington Prints. She says, “I used the Picnic Time block as the center for a pretty spring table topper. The Butterfly Haven collection worked great for this project and even had some larger butterflies that I could fussy cut for the corners.”

Quilty Staffer Susan made her Picnic Time Tablerunner using Clover Hollow by Sherri & Chelsi. She says, “I reversed the corners for interest”.

Quilty Staffer Teresa made her Picnic Time Quilt using Memoranda by Tim Holtz for Free Spirit Fabrics. She says, “The pattern is easy and super quick.”.

Vicki of My Creative Corner3 (@vickihollowayquilting) made her Picnic Time Pillow using scraps she had on hand. She says, “I love the spiral swirls I quilted for texture!”
