A Scrapbook of Quilts Pillow Along: The Wrap up!

I had so much fun making pillows with Joanna and Carrie! They led us in a Pillow Along with their new book, A Scrapbook of Quilts, to sew up some pretty cute pillows. In total, I sewed four pillows and two table runners!

A Scrapbook of Quilts is all about the possibilities you can create with six blocks, so it seemed a natural fit to base the Pillow Along on them. Each week we had a different theme and quilt block to use as inspiration for a pillow (or other small project). Read on to see my take on the weekly sewing prompts they gave us!

The Vintage Spools Pillow, Pirouette Pillow, Cathedral Pillow, and Nine Across Pillow are all displayed on a red bench!
Look at all of my cute pillows!! I’m sew excited to use these in my home.

The Vintage Spools Block

Joanna and Carrie got things started with a patriotic theme. I sewed this pillow with Sunday Stroll by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics. Gina Tell of Thread Graffiti quilted all of my projects for me and they turned out so lovely and detailed!

The Nine Across Block

The theme for the week was low volume, so I chose some light-colored scraps from All Hallow’s Eve and Fresh Fig Favorites. To make the Nine Across blocks, I used strip-piecing for the 9-patch units and Triangles on a Roll Triangle Paper to make the half-square triangles.

The Oregon Trail Block

I changed it up on this two-color challenge by making a table runner instead of a pillow (whoops, haha!). It turns out that the dimensions fit my front table near my sewing studio! I used a half yard of my favorite white dot Sunday Stroll for the background and Fresh Fig Favorites to make the blocks.

The Pirouette Block

The theme for this week was Autumn, so I thought why not try Cozy Up by Corey Yoder?

The Cathedral Garden Block

The theme to sew with this block was Halloween, and I used a combination of Fresh Fig Favorites and All Hollow’s Eve by Fig Tree Quilts to make the Cathedral Garden pillow.

The Neighborhood Block

This week’s theme was Christmas. I made another table runner, and I used Christmas Morning by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics. Joanna and Carrie included several house block variations in the book, and I think this block would be a fun one for beginners to try!

Thanks for sewing along!
