The start of the 2026 RBD Block Challenge is right around the corner, and this year, Lori Holt colored the quilt in her new Farmer’s Daughter collection with Riley Blake Designs. The color palette of the Farmer’s Daughter collection gives a wonderfully scrappy feel to this sampler quilt, and the greens and blues in the sashing and binding fabrics tie it all together! Every year, the RBD Block Challenge quilt inspires us to learn new techniques, explore new block designs, and connect with the quilting community. Keep reading for all the quilty details!

This post is such a lovely invitation into the 2026 RBD Block Challenge, showcasing the cheerful Farmer’s Daughter fabric collection and how its fresh greens and blues come together in a scrappy, inspiring quilt design. It strikes the perfect balance between sharing practical details like fabric requirements and pattern timing and getting quilters excited to start something creative and communal next January. The enthusiasm for connecting makers and celebrating creativity really comes through, making you want to grab your sewing tools and join in.
I had a subscription a few years ago and just loved it. Good value and fun. However, they came so frequently (only monthly) that I couldn’t keep up and became overwhelmed. Is it possible to subscribe for fewer than monthly boxes? Quarterly perhaps?
Instead of a fat quarter bundle, could a fat eight bundle be used for this version of the quilt? I think this version looks fabulous!
