Our Heartfelt Quilt and Cross Stitch Chart benefit Make-a-Wish Central & South Texas.

We are amazed by the generosity of this sewing community and inspired by the stories of the children who have been granted life-changing Wishes. Kids like Anais and Keysean have been granted Wishes that buoy their spirits and create lasting memories. The way the fundraiser works is that we offer the Heartfelt patterns as FREE downloads during the event for a suggested donation of $20 for the whole cross stitch pattern to our Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas campaign. No amount is too small and every bit counts. From February to August, we will publish a new pattern on the Heartfelt Announcement blog on the first Friday of each month.

Heartfelt Cross Stitch Spotlight

We have a great lineup of stitchers stitching along with us (like you if you’re reading this)! We asked these stitchers some questions, and they gave us their most heartfelt answers!

We asked, What cross stitch piece of yours has been the most “heartfelt” or is closest to your heart? Why?

Valerie answered, “My favorite stitched piece is Happy Hearts Sampler by Birds of a Feather.”

“I dedicated it to some of my female relatives and worked in initials for my Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Aunt, Sister, Mother-in-law, and Sister-in-Law as well as my husband and me! I learned to quilt, embroider, knit, crochet, and cross stitch from my Grandmother and other female relatives, all of whom were wonderfully creative people. From them, I realized the joy in being a life-long learner, and that has made me braver in trying new things.”

“It makes me so happy to see this piece, then remember my relatives and the patient and lovingly way they shared their skills.”

Valerie shared many beautiful things with us, from where she stitches her barn to how she stores her floss, saying, “I have a shaker box, and two antique Swedish painted “lunchboxes.” I love anything old or primitive, and these boxes house my cotton over-dyed flosses.”

We asked her, What cross stitch piece of yours has been the most “heartfelt” or is closest to your heart? Why?

Annie shared a heartfelt piece that she connects with the theme of love saying, “The most “heartfelt” cross stitch project I have stitched is “Indigo Lane” by With Thy Needle and Thread. I stitched this piece in my mother-in-law’s memory. I was very close to my mother-in-law, who passed away on December 29, 2021.”

“On the day she passed away, I had a strong desire to stitch something in her honor. I asked my husband and our two children to pick a pattern from my stash so I could begin it immediately. They all chose this pattern, and I started it right away. I finished it a few weeks later and can not wait to see it framed.”

“I think the design reminds me of my mother-in-law because she shared my love for the color blue. I miss her daily and know this beautiful heirloom stitch will be cherished for many years.”
